hey, i was just watching the premier episode (movie thing) and thought i may have found a G1 homage not yet mentioned:

Starscream and Prowl-do you think their abilities to hover/fly in robot mode are possible references to how everyone in in G1 could just soar across the sky whenever they wanted to.

Hey, if anyone else notices any homages, just post'em here if you want.

haha, of course he's a jet. i was just figuring that flying in robot mode like G1 could possibly be done to reflect G1 a bit. Same with Prowl.

Screamer and the jets always fly in robot mode though. So not so much a homage as to keeping true to the character.

As far as Prowl,he just makes it look cool, thats all.

ah-see, i never could get into the cartoon series, im in my late teens so i missed Transformers in its Prime (<-possible pun). tried watching Cybertron, it sucked, gave up. recently got the G1 set and notices the flying, just was wondering if there was a connection, but ur probably right.

But one more randomly flying Transformer and im gonna get suspicious again lol

Well Lugnut is a plane so we will see him flying, and Megatron is an Osprey so we will see him flying as well,oh and Blitzwing also turns into jet/plane so he'll fly too.

The Decepticons have always had ariel superiority(sp?) over the Autobots.

Since we're on the subject of flying... why is it that Prime ALWAYS says "If only we had someone who could fly" in the premier and then in Nanosec, when Prowl has always been perfectly capable of flying? Is he like a Gargoyle (from the cartoon) and can only glide for a while? Because as far as I can tell, Prowl can pretty much, I dunno, fly.....

Prowl has "jump jets" capable of short bursts of flight.
That's why they had the three part launch sequence to get BB going skyward with the unstable liquid bomb thingy.

I figured the reason for that was because Prowl could fly, but not fast enough to get the destronium into orbit.

Like Ceerad said, its more of jumpjets than actual flying capabilities. In the pilot episode it is shown already that Prowl can't stay in the air long. Well as far as that scene is concerned he stayed in the air for like 10 seconds more or less.

Yeah, I don't think Prowl can truly fly -not like Starscream can, anyway.

And Torque, if you just started watching G1 don't get used to knowing who can fly and who can't. It goes all over the place.
