Possible Fraudulent Email Posing as Hasbro

    This email came to my inbox from HasbroCustomerService:

    When I clicked on the link to "view the status of my claim" it was a very official looking confirmation page for a rebate on Kre-O Battleship product complete with a claim ID, my name and address, and an 800 number (which I called and leads to Hasbro Customer Affairs.)

    The only problem is, I don't own any Kre-O Battleship products and I have not put in a rebate for any Hasbro Kre-O products AT ALL.

    Please beware of this type of message.

    Have you contacted Hasbro about this?!?! I just got the same exact email...I too do not own any Hasbro Kre-O Battleship products...but I did win 2 Transformers Kre-O sets from their Instant Win Games...did you happen to win either of those as well?!?! Maybe thats why I received the email.

    I haven't won anything from them at all.

    I called the 800 number and a recording picked up and stated that it was Hasbro Customer Affairs and they only have hours Monday through Thursday.

    Also noticed that was your first post....welcome to the boards!!

    Thanks!!! I will be calling them tomorrow to find out if this is legit or not...will post when I find out more!!! :)  Glad to be here!!

    NEVER click on a link in an email unless you know for 100% fact that it's legit. And even then use caution.

    WOW. Really?....REALLY?

    Why would that be a question of the seriousness of the thread?

    I posted this thread to warn my fellow collectors and that's what the thread is about.

    Ok...so I contacted them about this today and I was told that it was in fact a legitimate email from them and that it was an email that was sent out in regards to the Battleship Kre-o Boat giveaway. I like you have never bought any Kre-O sets, but I did win 2 of the Transformers sets from their giveaways recently, so maybe thats why I got it. Be interesting to see if it shows up at my door, she said it should be here in 6-8 weeks...so we will see!!!
