Ok, I told you I would post information as soon as it came up in our computers at Target. BUT please know that first of all, these dates can always change and secondly these dates are not necessarily confirmed as being what I am reporting until we see planogram information.

That being said, While looking around on the computer last night I noticed two interesting dates on the adjaceny calendar.

The two aisles that we have action figures in at Target are titled "Boys Action 1" and "Boys Action 2" (The aisle with the starwars/transformers and the aisle with the TMNT/power rangers etc)

Every month the planogram team gets a calendar that tells them how many hours are needed for all the new 'revisions' and 'sets'.

I searched through all the months from March through June and two dates popped out at me.

    March 25th and June 3rd.

On both of those dates both Boys Action 1 and Boys Action 2 are showing resets and each aisle is listed as 7.8 hours of work for each of those dates.

It is possible that those two dates are just regular revision for those aisles. However, a normal revision would not usually be 7.8 hours which suggests to me that a lot is moving around in those aisle on both of those dates. I may be wrong but I would guess that on either one of those dates or both of those dates we will be seeing Movie Toys hit the shelves. If any of the other Target Employees can correct me or add any info that they have I am sure we would all appreciate it!!!! (Cant wait to see this huge movie toy collection and how much we will carry of it at Target!!)

(By the way the Toys r us in Rockford, IL will have the Gen 1 Soundwave Tomorrow Saturday at some point they told me today)

I would guess June 3rd would be the big reset for the movie toys?

Sounds about right. Star Wars typically got 6-7 weeks lead time, so a month for a big TF marketing blitz jibes.

The dates given at BotCon were May 2nd for the Preview figs, and June 2nd for the regular line, so yup.

Lord I wish I had time at work to just sit down and peruse things at my leisure, must be nice working dayside.

March is most likely changing out SAGA Star Wars for TAC Star Wars figures and other toylines down the aisle, maybe add some summer movie merchandise(i.e. NOT Transformers). June 3rd will probably take cybertron away and replace it with movie preview stuff (Star Wars had more than just figures for their preview set), and then there will either be a new planogram for the movie merch release date or a big revision down that aisle on June1st.

Didn't you say that the planogram handbook *or something you had* had a notation in it about their being two massive changes to the boys toys area during the summer. One for Spider-Man 3 movie stuff and the other one later for Transformers movie stuff?

BBTS has a section for movie toys that will open up on June 2 so that sounds reasonable to me.

How does someone figure out that it takes 7.8 hours to do a reset. Do you get spanked if you take longer...or finish faster even?

I thought we'd heard an early May street date for the movie line? June 2 seems a little late to me as it's only just over a month before the movie hits. Also is it safe to assume all items will be hardlocked until the street date?

    As I said:
I am 99% certain that's what the Hasbro team said. Doesn't anyone else remember them saying that?

IIRC, the May 2nd date would be for just two figures- probably not enough to do a whole reset- they probably just need to clear a couple pegs and put up a new tag. The june date, though, with hordes of movie toys coming...a reset would probaly be needed.

More to the point, are these hypothetical spankings administered by hot female bosses with a penchant for black?

    Thanks for the insult

Actually it only took 5 minutes to look up and i was on break and it was friday night closing. But thanks for insulting me and dayside as not doing anything.

Honestly though, i have worked at target for 9 years and have been price change, plano, overnight, dayside salesfloor, ent specialist, elec specialist, inventory prep, in the store on the floor team, and numerous other temporary teams and overnight is no more hard than dayside, the busiest team in the store is the plano(presentation) and the price change team. I spent a whole summer working overnight and it was one of the easiest summers ever - much easier than working electronics and toys for 8 thanksgivings!!!

I love it when people insult dayside though given the fact that at our target the people who work overnight only work overnight because they have NO people skills. With the exception of the ETL and TL's the overnight team has an avg 8th grade education and to the best of my knowledge isnt allowed out in the sunlight...sorry i had to (and since we are both acting like 4th graders now ...you started it hehe)

    Hi. First post here.

I'm a team leader for the toy dept. at Target and I can tell you that the two revisions for Boys Action 1 and 2 are for the Spiderman 3 and Transformers toys. At least that was the communication last Jan. 1st (though I think Pirates will have some new toys too). Regardless, the Jan 3rd reset IS the week those aisles are scheduled to reset. That does NOT mean it is the release date. In the past, Harry Potter, TMX Elmo and particularly Star Wars toys have had specific dates they could be released, but the aisles were set before hand. Also, the date of Jun. 3 is just for the week of the 3rd - 9th. This means that each store needs to set those aisles sometime that week. Since most work is done on weekdays dates of the 4th-8th are more likely.

My Hasbro rep has not been told the release date though. That may indicate that stores will be free to sell the toys when they are available. Aisle set or not. So far that is good news.

Anyway, thats all I can give you for now.

Thanks for laying out your Target resume, if you ever want to transfer to a Tampa area store, I'll be sure to have your info on file before I interview you.:p  Seriously, you need to chill out and not be so sensitive.

I agree with you on all points about the overnight flow team, I find it impressive that half of them don't swallow their tongues at least once over the course of the night. Hell, I call the holidays my vacation time because POG team gets to push toy flow during that month and a half. Second to cashiers, even with a rush of guests, flow is the easiest job in the store.

Yeah, planogram and price change have it worst of all, like I said, I'm the POG team lead at my store. Seriously, try training 6 new team members during January, which is essentially planogram "holiday" season, and meeting all the work requirements expected of a fully trained team.

You can't even compare summers overnight to toy and electronics during the holidays, completely different situations on each extreme of the spectrum.

Unless you have a shitload of sales planners, have to set your own revisions, or have to shoot and push research, there isn't a lot to do during the dayside process this time of year. The mid-day zone is like the hardest thing to do on a day with no projects.

Maybe at your store dayside works just as hard as overnight, but on the contrary, at my store, dayside, save for a few team members, doesn't even work half as hard as overnight team (backroom and POG, we've already established flow doesn't do shit).

    Welcome to the boards.

Yeah, as Laser_Optimus pointed out, the toy manual had a note specifically about special transitions for summer movie toys.

If anything, your rep might not even let you know, but I'm sure if the toys are street dated as we've heard, there will be a note on the box saying not to put the product out until the street date like the Star Wars Revenge of the Sith stuff had. Although since half of the flow team at my store can't read english and barely speak it, I'm sure we'll have some movie toys make it to the floor before the street date unless myself or one of the flow team leads catch it.

Thanks for the welcome. The Hasbro rep has been awesome for me. I've come to gain a reputation for being pretty informed about things in this area. Naturally, I keep her up to date and ahead of people pushing for her job in exchange for info even I can't get. So I trust her to tell me something, particularly in relation to Transformers. Hopefully, the "no official release" holds up. Just a shipping date. Then we can sell as soon as we have them on hand.
