    To help welcome the Mac gamers to Steam, Valve is releasing Portal absolutely 100% free for both Mac and PC until May 24th, no strings attached.

    I want to have a 3-way with Gabe Newell and Jonathan Coulton. And now I can.

    Bought it when it first came out with the orange box, but Im downloading it on my mac to give it a spin there. Great game to introduce new customers to Valve/Steam.

    The steam servers are taking a dump of epic proportions from all them people downloading Mac-Steam and Portal/Torchlight.

    Its free until May Wheneverthatdatewas, the game is only a few hours long at MOST, so everybody should be able to beat it if they download it in time.

    Also if you lose connection or it appears to stop downloading halfway through, just restart Steam, the servers are currently getting hammered from the insane amount of traffic.

    wait, so basically after May 24th, to play it again you have to pay? Or do you have to download it by may 24th...it wasn't to clear?

    Na. You just have to "buy" it by then. Once it's in your game library, it's yours.

    I already have Portal and Torchlight, but this hopefully is good news all around. More business = better deals. Mind you my bank account is having trouble keeping up on all the good deals I've gotten from Steam. I have to stop buying games I'm not interested in just because they're cheap. :crazy:  This is the way to do downloadable gaming Microsoft.
