I love me some Miyazaki. The Cyrus clan, and the Jonas Brothers on the other hand...

I'm a little nervous at the stars they've chosen for the movie, but I will still see it (the song that's played for the trailer better not be in the movie)

Just so people know ahead of time, this isnt the standard "aimed at everyone" Ghibli film. it's made for very young audiences, and a lot of adult fans in japan felt "betrayed" by it's childishness, and they raged all over the internet.

so, older fans may not like it. I did, though.

I'm trying to find a theater showing it, I definitely want to see it.

My favorite Miyazaki film is still his first- Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro.

I'm one of the ones that didn't like this film all that much. It just didn't feel like a Ghibli film - it wasn't magical in that Miyazaki way.

I'm lucky enough to live in a city that will show the original Japanese audio version in theaters, and I'm extremely excited to watch it.

While Disney's Ghibli dubs are some of the best English dubs out there, I find their name-recognition practices highly dubious. The Cyrus & Jonas hillbillies get enough recognition & money and I'm not about to give them any of mine.

Considering My Neighbor Totoro is among my favorite Miyazaki films I doubt I'll be raging.
Also, how did so many fans not know the child-oriented nature of this film before seeing it??

Oh noes, i'm boycoting a kids film because an optional audio track for the benefit of kids has folks that kids like on it.

Theatrically speaking the audio is only optional for those of us with theaters showing both Japanese and English versions. Otherwise it's strictly the English dub, and that's only optional if you plug your ears. :p

Concerning children, the film would be enjoyable enough for them on its own merits without having to sell it under the Cyrus & Jonas brands. And aside from that there is a multitude of wonderful professional voice actors out there who deserve the work and money a lot more than Cyrus & Jonas do.

Being the neutral part of this argument,

If you don't like the voices or music choices then why not just see the Japanese version with subtitles?

Just an idea coming from someone who has never seen any of Miyazaki's Films, and don't any of you go ape**** on me for not having done so yet.

    Don't worry, I will see them all...eventually.

I've seen plenty of foreign films with subtitles and I've enjoyed them no problem.

Now if you guys really want to compare and contrast, then I'd say watch the film both in Japanese with subtitles and in English to then make your final verdict on which version is superior.

Might check this out on a boring afternoon, but I'm not going to really try and see it. Frankly Miyazaki has really lost his touch from his earlier works like Castle of Cagliostro, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and Princess Mononoke.
