I have been reading reports that GM is most likely getting rid of the Pontiac Solstice (ie Saturn Sky). Does this mean Jazz will have a NEW ALT mode? Is Jazz even still coming back for the 2nd movie?

Its somewhat ironic that the robot the writers killed off in the 1st movie, was the one who's ALT mode is also being discontinued.

    heh that's interesting

not ironic though, it would be ironic if everyone else's lines were discontinued except for jazz(sorry, misuse of the term irony really irks me)

I am thinking that if they do bring Jazz back, still nothing confirmed, then he will have to be something else obviously. Some new sports car that has not been discontinued :p  Was a shame how he died at the hands of Megatron like that haha

from what i recall... Jazz: "Want a piece of me?!" Megatron: "How about two?" (Rips Jazz in half)

They just added a coupe verssion of the Solstice for 2009.
This will most likely be followed by a coupe version of the Sky in 2010.
Both cars are build on a platform that underpins a good portion of the GM fleet.
Hardly sounds like it's on the chopping block.

I wouldn't say the Kappa platform underpins a good portion of the GM fleet. AFAIK the only cars that use it are the Solstice, Sky, and Opel GT. And the production numbers on those are very small compared to their other platforms.

Well, Kappa is really Delta (Cobalt, G5, Ion, HHR) modified for RWD
Will you at least give me a "half right"?

I am no car guy, but just read on Edmund's InsideLine that GM is shelving plans for the kappa platform - as you guys mentioned, thats the platform for the Solstice, Sky, and 2 cars made by Opel and Daewoo. From the article, I think GM is going away from the Solstice because it is too much of an expensive process to make the car and lose thousands of dollars in making them.

And I agree with a previous poster, the Saturn Sky is a MUCH better looking car than the Pontiac. Still not the best looking car out there. Knowing things as I do now, and knowing that GM is the ONLY manufacturer to choose cars from (basically...), I'd go with Wheeljack as that Saab, Jazz as the Corvette, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker as Dodge Vipers (pending GM's supposed merger with Chrysler), and Tracks as the Camaro.

i heard the Pontiac Solstice was selling very well and the Saturn wasnt doing so well, then also like what was stated earlier was that GM was releasing a Coupe version of the Solstice for 2009. which should help the sales of the solstice.

Jazz deserves something better. If those cars are discontinued its because they are too damn expensive. Seriously.

I would like a link or something. Not because I don't believe you, per-se, but an article that has more details would be better.

What's wrong with the Pontiac Solstice that they're going to discontinue it?

Doubtful Jazz will be brought back in the sequels, but if he does, I'm fairly certain he might end up getting a new alt-mode.

You do realize the Sky and the Solstice are the SAME car, don't you?

The only difference is the front and rear facia design...

actually I don't see any significant increase of Solstice running on the road ...it is just a matter of time GM realized their sponsorship is a waste. But since they signed a deal ? and WTH 'd buy any hummer these days?

I just checked on the sites that Pontiac sales people access, and I can't find a thing about the Solstice being cancelled.
