Legions are great. I love the little guys. However, we very, very rarely get a Legion with both elbows AND knees (Warpath and Cliffjumper are the only two who spring to mind). While the decision is usually made by sculpt or design (and sometimes they're both omitted), which do you think is more crucial to the figure?

Personally, I prefer elbows. With knees, it's tough to utilize them and still let the figure keep a standing pose. And with all the Legions being able to hold guns, being able to wield them has gotten a lot more important.

Elbows provide for much more dynamic poses and looks more natural. Standing = naturally legs are straight (no knees bent), but how often do people keep their arms straight?

Knees. More dynamic and stable poses.

I kind of question why its not more standard when they charge $5+ for these.

Its probably retailers inflating the price for the "purchase the smallest possible toy mentality" of parents that bring their kids to walmart. Or compensating for shoplifters that can scoot off with them easily.

Granted you are getting a weapon now with the prime figures that can pop on either mode. So that helps their play value tremendously.

Articulation varys quite a bit. The lowest of the low is dark of the moon topspin.
with the arms that go up and one point of pincer claw movement.
But generally I'd prefer knees to be standard. Like on universe legends Jazz, Hound, Megatron, Warpath, and Cosmos. That matters more for keeping figures balanced or getting them dynamic. If thier holding giant swords and guns anyway, then that makes up for elbows.

No, DotM Rampage beats Topspin out for uselessness. Topspin's up there, but the spread-arm pogostick wins.

Personally, I prefer knees for the size class, but it really depends on the figure/character.

In a future where the mainline consists of living toys that auto transform walk and interact with mission structures, then fight daily battles between the Autobots and Decepticons in your Home.
Where Medics can actually repair the wear and tear of these toys. And Spys can gather tactical information to upload to their computer base, mapping the terrain for their commanders. Motorized all terrain Wheels and infra red laser impact damage points become the metagame of their plastic war.

Then comparatively the Cyberverse figures are just going to be super revoltech posable pocket money action figures with interchangeable accessories.

Fixed. And to to think I actually paid $4 for that POS.

Anyway, I'll take elbows over knees any day.

... to be fair, the Deluxe didn't have any articulation, either.

I prefer knee articulation. Action/ready poses don't look right when the figure is standing straight up.

Tough choice, so I just went with my immediate impulse, which was knees.

But we're getting to the point where there is less and less reason not to have both. Engineering has progressed enough. And actually, I do think it will become the norm, because it will help give Hasbro the excuse to make progressively smaller toys.

There's absolutely no reason they shouldn't have both.

I don't buy them, so I don't personally care, but I'd always rather have knees than elbows. Without elbows, they'll look a little weird in some poses, but will overall be okay-looking. Without knees, they can't walk.

    Knees are more important.
