Posted this on Don Murphy's boards, thought I'd repost them here. Plotpoints hinted at in tie-ins but never even touched upon? - Don Murphy Message Board
good fucking question, the writers really really really dropped the ball...big time...its really unfortunate to be honest
Gotta agree with all of those, a shame really Something that i miss from the comic adaptation (and apparently the novel) and i seriously hope it was filmed (but cut for whatever reason), was the last scene with Megatron and his new army
Woah, that ending with Megatron abandoning the Fallen would have been so much more fulfilling. I suppose we could hope it might be a deleted scene but it might be for nothing.
'EDIT 2' sounds like much more rewarding scenario. I for one found Megatron and The Fallen to be fairly uninteresting characters in their representation. Megatron was suddenly more talkative after his revival, and clearly humbled to the point of being a sycophant, yet it felt to me like more of a character redesign rather than character development. (blame the fans) I also felt the perceived threat of Megatron in the first movie was greater than the combined threat of Megatron and The Fallen in the second. The "brother" thing wasn't addressed either, it may have fit in with Meg's ambition, but not the whole Prime birthright thing if "brother" is to be taken literally. But I digress, I would love to know any further points such as these. I suspect that many layers of the story have either been abandoned as they are not instantly gratifying, or just not communicated well in the movie.
This is true, but the question is WHY would they change these things in the script to things that make much less sense Its just wierd...
And dont forget that early versions of megatron had him eating sparks of fallen enemies.... But I agree, and its not really the writers fault (well..maybe) but Megatrons just falling into that recurring villians role, forever destined to yell "Were blasting off agaaaaaaaaain" Next comes the extremely overly complicated schemes to take over the world.
Yes, and? That still means the final draft dropped a LOT of things that were used as a base for the events in the comics, things that would have worked better.
Well, we don't know THAT. For all we know it could have had a lot more stupid shit and crap dialogue as well. It did have better story ideas, though.
