Anyone getting one of these? Basically it's a robotic baby dinosaur that was developed by Caleb Cheung (co-inventor of Furby). I have two of the "First Hatch" on order and should get them early in December. They look pretty cool. I've always wanted an AIBO and this seems like an affordable alternative.

I saw them on TV, it looked a bit strange. When I saw a demo video of it, I think it must have been really early on, as its movements were quite jerky IIRC.
From the link you gave, it seems to have been fixed.

From the description its an interesting idea, but for £249.99, I'll pass.
I hope you enjoy them though, they look like they'd be a blast.

Provided they arent a 10th as annoying as Furbys.

    That's pretty cool.

    I've actually got something similar.

It's a dog. It does all the stuff that the little dino does, plus it leaves massive turds on my lawn and bites people that piss him off.

    I love him.

    Agreed.

That thing is awesome though....I imagine it would be 'fun' for my cats to have one around ;)

One of the big features is that it's very hackable and it's based on an open system OS.

/\ That right there makes it a bit more interesting...but the skin itself still looks too cartoony to me. I dunno, it's a cool idea.

This sounds pretty cool, even if I wouldn't be able to take advantage of it.

But looking at the site, I'm kinda wondering...what could you make it do beyond what it's already programmed to do?

I was wondering that myself - I guess you could add better sensors, different behaviors, remote controls, things like that.

But really, if it acts like a living thing and "learns", that would be cool enough for me.

Awesome at first, but, turns kind of stupid after awhile.

Would drive me nuts after the first loop animates out.
Poor thing is sad becasue he has no flesh.

Trypticon's slow walking ass would trample it, buy a Dreamcast instead imo

    Like...weapons? Could you add weapons?

I would love my own semi-real Dinorider.

He's like a real life Dinobot that doesn't transform. lol.

Seriously though, actually, you can replace the skin with custom skin as well.

As to the programming, it has a linux based OS. You could program it to do whatever you want.

I'm thinking of adding sound clips from the dinobots to him. That'd be pretty funny.

If such a thing existed, it'd probably be the first example in history of something having both tits and internal logic.
