It's a security and equity issue.

Teachers have way more than enough to deal with, especially with behaviour management issues, to worry about making sure little Billies $300 PSP doesn't get stolen on school grounds. And then have little Billies Bitch of a Mother up at the school asking why the teachers did nothing to protect Billy from getting his stuff stolen. Much better to blanket ban them and give teachers comphiscate rights when they see them, on the basis that the kids can collect them at days end.

Same with Mobile phones, especially camera based ones, which can be used for bullying. If kids REALLY need to call home, schools have phones they can use on campus. Theres no need for kids to have a cell phone on them while on campus.

Hence why Aussie schools extend comphiscation rights to mobile phones as well.

Heck even as a student teacher, I comphiscated a phone and an iPod. :D

Meh. As long as you have a decent color screen phone made in the last 3 years or so, 'Wireless porn' is esily obtained.

The shocking fact is that looking at the odd picture of a naked women DOESEN'T turn the majority of boys into crack-smoking convenience store robbers.

    This podcast is amazing.

And this story? Sad enough for me to smile.

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go use the internet magic sorcery to play racing cars.

I think you're all missing the point. Video Games MAKE people shoot other people. This Playstation Pornable allows you to PLAY GAMES as well as magically showing you images of NAKED women, sometimes engaged in SEX acts.

This news is an outrage. Any child that carrys one of these magic devices should be thrown into a river. Why? Because people are obviously heavier than ducks, and so should sink. If the Magic abusing child floats? THEN THEY ARE A WITCH, and should be burned.

God seeing some of these posts make me feel like an old fart. Upset because schools don't want you to have iPods, PSPs, & cell phones. You kids will never know real pain or hardship.

When I was in high school, they banned "Big Johnson" T-shirts :D

If you REALLY want a PSP now, then now's the time. The PSP Core pack is only $200.

What about looking at such pictures daily, usually twice or more? And not just pictures, but video too. And not just naked girly pictures, but images that involve multiple fully nude people who might have 2-3 penises inserted in them at a time? Why would that be any worse? Oh, I uh, am asking for a friend... or something. :redface2:

I'm turning 23 years old in about 2 days and way out of High School. And I disagree with such policies that Eric's HS had. I have been lucky enough with my schools that didnt have such policies and I belive most people grew up to be become pretty responsible adults.

Sure, to have some attention on the cell phones with cameras and things that can be used in some improper way towards other people is necessary. And personally I'm all for the rule that everything one brings to the school grounds is ones own responsibilty. If someone steals your iPod because you didnt watch it well enough, well thats tough shit.

I'm not sure who you targeted when stating "you kids will never know real pain..." etc. But I'm assuming you meant those still in HS. Sure they will know. They will meet challenges and discover how hard life will be. Just like you ( and me :D ) did. And theres plenty of people younger than you ( and me too, I'm sure ) who knows plenty about pain and hard life already. :redface2:

Big Johnson T-shirts you say? The rebel you! :D

When I was in high school, they banned anything with a rebel flag on it or Malcolm X stuff. The black and white kids were having some major fights for a while. I grew up in Alabama and went to a redneck high school.

Our school has had six students killed this past year - three in the last week. Pain and hardship visits everyone, no matter what gadgets he may possess.

    LMAO!!

As I recall, there was a brief fuss about those after the faculty figured out WTF it even meant. By which time of course, nobody was really wearing them anymore. Did pagers = 'drug dealer' where you were too? :lol

Kids and their whining about having cell phones in school. :rolleyes2  Pssh. Ain't nobody had a cell phone when I was in school. Our parents didn't even have 'em yet, let alone little Johnny texting his friends on the family share plan. No sir, high-tech for us was passing notes on graphing calculators. And can you believe...no IntErweB?!

I snuck my bulky ass original Game Boy into junior high, but only on the bullshit days like the last day before Xmas, standardized test days, etc., where there's lots of downtime, goofing off....more than a usual day anyway.

Now, I freely admit that I went around for the better part of HS with headphones nigh permanently attached to my head (a walkman, at that). I knew enough to put it away in class though. Likewise most of the teachers weren't going to tolerate tinny music permeating the room if I was done but others weren't.

I don't think ANY of the modern equivalents should be outright banned...iPods, phones, PSP. I thought the rationale for banning pagers was beyond stupid, and I would have been indignant if they had said no walk/discmans. As somebody mentioned, there's the bus, before school, between classes, lunch...any number of holes during the day where you can play with your toys. But there should be the threat of having it taken away if used inappropriately in class.

As for this new magic porn threatening today's youth...banning them at school or getting upset that it's possible isn't the answer. Not buying your 14-year-old a PSP is the answer, but God forbid today's parents should actually deny their children luxury items.

Oh man, I remember those. 2 friends of mine wore them back in my high school days and they got away with it.

Our school had BBC B Micros, and you weren't allowed to use them. Schoolkids these days truly don't know they're born.
