Sorry in advance if this has been metioned. Right now I'm stationed in Japan and have been thinking about buying a japanese PS3 since they are cheaper here ( around 110 bucks) . My question is can I update it with the U.S. firmware and still work, just like with PSP consoles. Thanks.

He won't have any trouble playing US discs when he takes it home, Japan and the New World are in the same Blu Ray region.

I think Disney will just release it all in one enormous spurt. At least that's my hope.

Thanks for the info. Sorry about the confusion though. It's around a $110 cheaper. Everytime I go to TRU Japan the have stacks of them and the only option I have is to buy the U.S one online or go to TRU, since I won't be back to the States for another 2 years.

No, they will release them for a limited time with a jacked up price.

Then pull them from the shelves and re-release them a few years down the line with a fe extras, when the half-baked direct to DVD/HDDVD/Blue-Ray sequal needs to shift.

The only difficulty you would have is playing normal DVDs on it.
