found my old copy and playing it on scummvm! weeeee
I love that game, one of the coolest point-and-click adventures ever IMO.
I may have to do the same. It's been so long it will all seem like new again!
What is it?
It's a game called "The Dig"!
hey, its alan dean foster, same dude who penned the TFTM07 novels! kewl.
I see you caved in and figured out how to use ScummVM. And The Dig is awesome.
Yaaay gaming nostagla (or however you spell that).
There is also a novel based on that game, good book too.
The Dig is point and click adventure game Smasher. It uses both computer animation and a sort of hand drawn style to it. It's also an amazing sci-fi story, done by Lucas Arts.
The game starts with news of a large asteroid about to crash into earth and well... Make a bad day generally for anyone. NASA responds by sending a shuttle up with a crew to strategically place explosives on critical locations of the the push the rock away from it's collision course. The explosives worked and the NASA team investigate a crevace they made.
They discover alien artifacts.
The main character, Major Brink, activated some sort of alien device and the asteroid transformed (wan-anh-anh-uhm) into an alien space ship and sent Major Brink and his two companions across the galaxy to an alien world. The world is filled with skyscrapers, buildings, machines, relics, but also decay and dust.
Brink and his crew must discover a way home but along the way they discover the secrets to this world and what happened to the inhabitants of it...
Sounds cool -thanks.
KA should be looking after his family NOT PLAYING STUPID VIDEO GAMES!
Its not stupid....
FYI, i play (on estimate) 10 bazillion times more video games than KA.
You seriously need to take back the part you said about a lucasarts adventure game being stupid.
And I saw the 70s remake of Body Snatchers the other day for the first time, and your display pic is a big spoiler!
That should be punishable by having chilli powder poured into the exit hole, unless of course MI4 is the game in question.
That was a good one if not a little short.
80's and early 90's LucasArts owns my soul
puh-lease! i never said lucasarts adventure games were crap. i said that video games were crap...
sorry about the spolier. maybe i should change it to Nimoy?
nifty site on the dig - theres a pun there somewhere...
finished it the other day, just realized it had an alternate ending involving maggie, cool.
man i dont know how me and my buds finished the game in those days without the internet and walkthroughs.
*roots around for copy of full throttle, goes hunting for days of tentacle*
