Rubber tires invoke a sense of quality.
From what I have heard, Leader Prime is an awesome figure.
Rubber tires could only make him better.

    Hard tires vs squishy tires.

My experience with toy rubber tires is they often split at the part where they were glued shut.

Just imagine Alternators/Binaltechs with plastic tyres and you will understand.

Realism. And Grip even on surfaces plastic caster wheels don't roll on very well.

There's no point where they were glued shut. They're molded in a full tire shape to begin with.

I like rubber tires, but I think on some of the cheaper little figures they'd look a little dumb. Kind of like when people buy shitty little old cars and put nice wheels and a system in it. It stands out, but in a dumb way.

For me, if RoTF Leader Prime had rubber tires and maybe just a little more of a rich gray color (I think the gray on Hasbro's Prime is really bland) then I think it would be a Masterpiece.

For me, I like the grip they have. Just feels right.

    The tires, I mean.

I always prefer plastic. I dont own a single rubber tired bot that doesnt have 50% or more of them cracked.

like putting- i mean squeezing- 2, 12" subs and an amp into a Ford Aspire?

I have never had any problems with rubber tires. no splitting, no cracking, nothing. the quality appears to be good on mine.
plastic tires, seem cheap to me, because with them, if the wheel can't grip the surface, they slide, and when they slide, they risk scratching something up.

and to add another angle, Rubber vs. Plastic is how you can tell which version or variant of G1 or other older figures you have. which affects your toy's value.

Mine does too, so do ALL my RID toys that have rubber tires. Although Optimus is the worst, I think every tire is split.

I do like rubber tires though, I wish Buster Prime would have got the rubber tire treatment.

Rubber tires look a lot cooler but degrade with time

The only toys with rubber tires that have any problems in my collection are some of the RiD/CR stuff. None of my Alt's or BT's have had any issues at all (god I hope it stays that way).

IMO rubber tires are much nicer looking. The fact the HA toys don't have them is a big turn off to me.

If ROTF Leader Prime had rubber tires I would have picked it up. I know I keep hearing its a great mould but the plastic tires were a turnoff. Its why I still love the 07 movie Leader Prime, even though ROTF Leader Prime is a more accurate representation of the character.

The rubber tire just makes it feel a little a bit more realistic, which was the point of Alternators.

With figures like G1 Metroplex, Prime, etc, that was a direct correlation to making those of high quality, just like the use of die cast with a lot of them.

Plastic however has a longer life span and allows for more complex transformations.

Rubber tires will protect you in case Insecticons try to strike with a lightning attack. Science!

I'm old school, and am on the side of "rubber tires are better than plastic". Also, personally I've never had an issue with cracking. I still have my original G1 Ultra Magnus and Metroplex, and their rubber tires are in tip top shape. Those are 24 year old toys!
