Well, finding a job is becoming rare on this island(Puerto Rico). My last hope was Borders in Mayagüez, but it's closing.

Now I have no other choice but to make a website where I'll make a couple of web-comics & a review show [Movies & Games, good or bad, my choice or viewers' request:)  ] in order to make money(in a large or small amount)

But what good web host would be proper for an my website? :inquisiti

    Note: 3/10/2011

(Allow me to rephrase the question):

I know how much Web hosts can costs & that is not the comic that makes money. I got the idea on how to make money for the site(Advertisement, Premium Membership, Products{like shirts with my characters images, toys, comic prints} etc . I been making the research for a year before learning the news of Borders leaving.

The questions is NOT how to make money with the website, the question is a logical or good web hosts suitable for the needs BEFORE I buy web servers?.

There's only two ways to make money with a website. One is to have a readership in the hundreds of thousands a day in order to generate ad revenue. And the other is to create a porn site.

    Your path is clear.

Additionally, the revenue you make having a readership in the hundreds of thousands a day will often go towards paying server and bandwidth fees.

The other option IS a lot easier...

Yeah man. There is no money there. I can honestly say that I would not pay for what you are selling. Saved you some market research!

Unless you've got a crazy-awesome work ethic or you have a ton of strips already drawn, a webcomic is tough to keep going on a regular schedule.

Except the comic is WHAT DRAWS PEOPLE TO YOUR SITE, and is what you would be basing items that you want people to buy on. So the comic is what you should concentrate on making GOOD, and making sure you can keep up a schedule. If you aren't able to do that, then it doesn't matter who hosts it, how many products you make/ads you host, you're not going to succeed because no one is going to be interested in buying or going to your site.

But if you want a free comic hosting site, ComicGenesis is alright. There are a few others, but I don't recall them offhand.

You could start off with a deviantART account first to host/display your comics until it becomes popular enough to have its own website. At least the deviantART account is free.

I'm not going to say that you won't make money but it will be a real challenge to generate money from this endeavor. Good luck.

This a bad idea from the get-go. Nothing but a money pit.

If you really need to do it, you need to start with free servers and gain popularity (if that even comes). And furries? Blechhh. Do something original. There's already a billion and one furry webcomics that nobody reads. Nobody wants a t-shirt of that, trust me.

But again, as a plan for primary income, this is not it.

You do have a good point. On the fury opinion, however , I do disagree. It depends often on the story & character development which makes or breaks the comic. Yeah, there are billions but not all are bad, some are fun. Also, I won't create just an Anthro comic, I'll make 2 sci fi comics. I won't be limited to 1 form of comic, don't take me wrong my friend:)

Furry fans have a VORACIOUS appetite for furry comics and art of all kinds and they dole out the money if they like your art, so that's a good genre to start with as far as trying to make money. You WILL get a lot of ignorant comments about it, tho, from non-furries. But if you can say 'screw them I'm doing what *I* want', then good!
