He was announced two months ago, what did you expect to happen at this point?

 

No offence dude but if MM already took your 3P Trypticon money then perhaps this dude was already out of your price range and beyond your budget. I guess you can get the Has/Takara one next year. I honestly don't know how much jumping you could have done with your budget only being the price of Diabolous Rex.

 

Budgets not the issue, I tend to only buy one 3p representation of a character that has/tak has not released yet. To me, 3p is about filling gaps.

PX has been talking about making this thing for ages now. All the hoeing and humming that it might not be done and such.

MM announced, then a few months later released a stellar, but small, trypticon. If hasbro had not announced a Titan scaled trypty I might still be in the market for a nice sized 3p trypticon, but knowing that one is on the way MM's version will hold me over till the official one releases.

In short they should have just released the thing soon after they made omega. I would have bought both of them.

 

To be fair Planet X actually didn't really talk about making this until recently. Fans have been the ones clamoring for Planet X to make Trypticon: Planet X originally said they weren't making this due to the initially poor sales of Genesis.

 

PX has been talking about this for a good long while. They initially said that large size figures were to financially risky to make since their omega didn't sell as well/fast as they hoped.

Yet they are releasing another "last chance" run of the figure...

I feel they didn't think there was enough demand for this guy to warrant making it. Then hasbro released its poll for next Titan, trypty won, they saw the demand and said dang we need to get on this ASAP.

I dunno, just my guess. Regardless what I think, a Titan version is in the works that I hope will at least look the G1 part and make the wait worth it.

 

Yes, I am so in-game for this! I'm game for whatever Trypticon MakeToys will do too, but I definitely was wanting a FoC Trypticon, as I loved PX's Project: Genesis!

 

To be honest, they were afraid. Genesis didn't 'fly off the shelves' (so to speak) as quickly as they wanted to. It was a major gamble back then: New company with no prior record and their first fig is this $300 figure. The company was met with much skepticism. It wasn't until later that Genesis got the recognition it deserved and the figure went through not just one re-release, but going on re-release #3. However, PX is still sprung on to that notion of what they consider to be 'bad sales'. I hope they realize that their rep has increased significantly since then and people view PX much more favorably than back then.

Not relevant. Hasbro's announcement had very little to do with PX's initiative to make a WfC Trypticon. It was the fans still asking for a WfC Trypticon despite (prior to and ever after) the fact than an official (non-WfC) one had been announced.

Agreed, and for all those that want a G1-esque Trypy their pleas have been heard. For us that have been demanding for a WfC Trypy, our pleas have also been answered.

 

This is awesome but I'll probably just get the Hasbro version, since it will be like 25% of the cost and probably be twice as big.
