Yeah wish they didn't do that much of a SS recolor. But I am fine, fine just need more of this line. Megatron and some more soldiers good and bad.

 

I think it's really wise of Planet X to stick to their WFC / FOC niche instead of competing with other third party companies on G1 characters. They can focus on the design and the quality of their work.

That said, I would have to be eating crackers and drinking water for the next few months to save up for this bad boy... lol.

Yup, as of now they have no real competition in this style, especially if Second Chance's FOC Shockwave ends up being as bad as it's starting to seem.

I wonder if the lights will come in a separte box like the original Genesis release or if they'll be in the same box as Apocalypse like the Genesis reissue.

Both Apocalypse and the other Seekers look fantastic. The baseplate they have him on looks pretty cool, too. I wonder where that's from.

 

THIS. Fess up, who knows where to get that baseplate?! It's even got tabs to interlock with other ones.

Is that picture of him lunging forward with his tail up showcasing a cannon mode with his left (our right) arm? I can make out the hand on his right arm, but his left forearm looks like it's opened up to expose the light in it, and I don't see that arm's fingers.

The cinematic design was predominantly black while the in game model was dark grey. That was the biggest problem with the art direction of WfC way way too much grey and not enough contrast that got rectified in FoC.

So glad PX went with the cinematic, looks sooo much nicer.

Also I think they just mean he doesn't have all his paint aps yet.

 

Well now that they've done Trypticon and the other two seekers, if Planet X could do an FOC Megatron that would be great.

 

The base plates came with ToyWorlds coneheads.

 

I am a huge, HUGE sucker for FoC designs so these are a must have for me. I picked up their Hephaestus back in July and it is easily one of my favorites. I would love to see them do a FoC Ultra Magnus and hound because their armor sets are by far my favorites.

I know one thing, all of this 3rd party goodness between Planet X and Mastermind Creations, along with a few random 3rd party bots here and there, have made me change my collecting habits to mainly non official stuff now.

 

So buying this!

 

He looks great and all but I honestly can't tell what I'm looking at on Trypticon. Maybe better lighting or a different angle would have been the way to go with those photos? I can make out his head, tail and feet obviously but in between is a massive cluster.

 

I agree it's kind of an odd angle, that hides things. Head-on would have been better, due to Trypticon's odd shape/proportions:



Side note: generally I don't like "Cyberglow" stickers, but it's a must for WFC/FOC, and Reprolabels will certainly be going all-out on the Cyberglow stickers for this guy, I imagine.

 

You don't need Cyberglow stickers. This thing comes with lights, heck extra lights for early preorders. He'll be glowing like an XMas tree all right.

 

I also like that beign the second boss of the game he is aptly named Apocalypse when Omega was Genesis, the circle is now complete.

I do love Planet X figures, I got all of them except the repaints for Omega and Grimlock, but I will definetly get the Seekers. Now I want a FoC Megatron, Ratchet/Ironhide, Warpath, Zeta Prime...

No surprise the trio is coming around. I'm curbing my enthusiasm until I see if they're bothering to give them different weapons. Trypticon is probably going to be amazing, but I can't get into the cost. Anything THAT big and expensive has to nail a particularly mushy part of my inner child.
