Does anyone know if this is still set to launch this month? Latest from PX is that it's September but that was some time ago, and there's only a fortnight left.

 

No official statements but it has got to be delayed. Their PX-08 just came out this week.

Ooooo...not a fan. The blue is waaaay too dark, and his head should also be blue. Also, why the lack of translucent purple and purple paint outside of the chest?

Edit: actually, I would be fine with it if the head was blue, that's the main thing throwing off the entire design.

 

I am surprised that PX didn't design the lavander colored areas on his chest to be the same as it is on his circular shoulder joint. Other than that, this fig looks AWESOME!!!

Looks like a hand painted prototype from the defects in paint and the bottom edges of the feet not being blue. I also think they need texture in the enegon glow areas of the chest. I like where they are going and the final product should be awesome

 

So I'm the only one that has a problem with his head being the wrong color and the lack of energon glow on his face?

 

I'm ok with the head being black. If I recall correctly, WFC Starscream had a black/dark grey head. If you're strictly going for a FOC look, then I can understand your point. Overall, the figure looks better than I expected it to be.

 

Probably? I always though it was weird that they ended up giving him a blue head. It was black, as is normal for Starscream, in the concept art as well as WfC (with purple highlights).

Also, though, these colors are not final. As per Planet X's Facebook post of the photos:

I think the blue needs to a bit lighter, while keeping on the 'purple side' of the blue spectrum. And the Energon highlights could look better. Otherwise, though, this is looking fantastic and I can't wait to get both him and Prime.

 

Yeah I think the blue is definitely to dark. I guess they went with the black head to cater to a wider crowd? I wish they would of went with the game accurate blue head though. Out of curiosity is there any pictures showing the size of this next to the mp-11 mold?

The only things that had a black head were the initial concept art and the hasbro figure

 

yeah, wish the helmet was blue and the face a little more gunmetal-y. pretty sharp lookin tho!

 

It seems to vary by picture, but in some it looks more like black, or very dark blue, with purple-blue used as the highlight color (similar to old comics). It could just be my computer messing with me, as I'm on my laptop and it tends to subtly blueshift a lot images, but that picture also looks entirely blue-lit to me (the reds on SS look more Hot Rod magenta than Optimus red).

I thought the blue helmet in the game looked bad, so I'm on board for a more traditional head coloration. I also prefer the concept art to the game models. When they finally tackle the Insecticons, I hope they use the concept color schemes, which were G1 black and purple, ignoring the ugly green that was all over the in-game models.

EDIT: If they had gone by the in-game model on Neptune/Sludge, his chest would have been gold, rather than the traditional red. That was an instance of P-X favoring concept art/tradition over game-accuracy.

 

Yeah, but that actually made sense (and was only onscreen for like 30 seconds), Starscream had a blue head for two entire games, and it made this version of the character unique. Imagine if they'd made slag's entire head red...
