Small plane crashes into building in Austin, Texas - Yahoo! News
Oh dear. Hopefully everyone is alright.
To much propane?
Guy literally killed his cats, set his house on fire and did this. We missed seeing it by like a few minutes because we were driving right by there to a conference.
That crash is about 3 minutes from where I live.
From what I understand, the pilot of that plane had been having serious problems with the IRS, which has an office in that building. Last night he had a mental breakdown, scared his wife so badly that she took their kid and stayed in a hotel last night and this morning he burned his house down (which is a couple of blocks away from the IRS building). He then drove to an airport in Georgetown, where he kept his plane, got in it and flew it into the building.
He's got a "manifesto" up.... Well Mr. Big Brother IRS man... take my pound of flesh and sleep well.
I grew up in Austin, and my family still lives there. Scary that someone could get that jaded and bitter...
... Will the building fall...?
not enough propane accessories?
At least he picked a good building to hit.
A preschool - awful. A hospital - horrible. The IRS - meh.
We live close by, too. Wife drives by there every day on her commute. Crazy stuff.
It's hard not to laugh at that, but I still hope everyone is o.k. Do they think it was terrorist related? Just curious.
It's easy to say the IRS is evil and all that stuff, but it doesn't change the fact that there were ordinary people in that building and it's a miracle there weren't casualties.
That's what bothers me most about this. Sure, this guy is having a hard way, and his solution? Ram a plane in a building. First off, because it is a plane and hitting a building, it is automatically thought it is a terrorist attack. Second, as Switch said, there are ordinary people in there, that have lives just like this guy, a family, and probably don't have much to do with this guys situation. This guy could have murdered, and yes, I say murdered, potentially all 190 people in that building, all because he was in a bad way? It is amazing how this becomes the guys only solution.
Oh, and looking at the report, of the 190 people in there, 1 is unaccounted for, and 2 are hospitalized. It is one thing to kill yourself, it is another to take innocent lives with you. Whether they work for the IRS or not, an innocent life is an innocent life.
I doubt any of the people in that building caused what he saw as his 'problem.' Madman and idiot.
no its not going to fall. Nobody was killed and I think only 2 people had injuries.
It was probably a little 1 prop engined plane. Unless that thing was going about 3 times as fast and carrying enough fuel to fill a 747, I think it will be ok.
To quote Die Hard, "It's gonna need a shit load of screen doors."
Thank goodness. Glad to know everyone's alright down there.
On a side note, to other Austin Texas residents, isn't it weird having something like this happen here?
I'm not traumatized or anything by this incident but wow...... never thought i'd see the day. What is worth attacking in Austin anyway?
