Just turned on CNN. Apparently small aircraft (plane? helicopter?) crashed into a building on 71st. I don't it's terrorism, but I was wrong in 2001.

    Today is 10/11.

CNN Headline News says it's a helicopter and it's 72nd E. Good news that it's a helicopter cause they fly slower and therefore do not have as much momentum as a plane.

Dear God it's happened again. :(

Well, a helicopter crashing into a building is just as bad as a plane crashing into the WTC and the Pentagon. It can still upset people.

It's an accident, it's not an act of terrorism. And of course it's not anywhere near the scale of 911.

I hope so, because if it's an act of terrorism, then we're screwed.

Yeah, I concluded that too. It's just eerie because I was Junior in HS when 9-11 happened and they announced over the school's PA system, "Two planes have crashed into the world trade center."

Everyone's first thought was, "What a couple of stupid f***ing pilots." Then you thought about it and realized that it was no accident.

Doesn't look like the aircraft did much damage thankfully.

FAA confirmed it was a fixed wing airplane and not a helicopter...

They're saying that Cory Lidle from the Yankees was piloting the plane.

Well, they had the up on the screen earlier but now the mayor is saying that they don't know for sure who was piloting and they won't even say that it was Lidle since they haven't notified next of kin yet.

Guess they just jumped the gun and started reporting things that weren't confirmed yet.

That's pretty tragic regardless of who died. It makes it more personal when it is a celebrity though.

How does it make it more personal since he's a celebrity? It doesn't make any difference to me. A dead pilot is a dead pilot whether or not thousands of people payed money to see him throw a ball before today.

It was an accident and it was a plane not a heli.. My family in NYC says the whole city freaked out for a bit and people gained alot of faith in that short time. Funny how things like this bring people closer in their religions but not in any normal cicumstance during the cource of the day or their life..

As a Yankees fan when I heard this had happened I started crying I was very saddened by what transpired.
