Okay, so I did a search by titles for both "Pixar" and "Brave" and found nothing. If there's already an existing thread, please feel free to merge them.

New trailer for Pixar's next big feature, Brave!

Based on the comments on Youtube, a lot have been saying that. That's not entirely a bad thing if movies like Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon are any indication.

So what is it? Some kind of Scottish Mulan? 'Girl isn't allowed to fight but the girl will go on to win the day and show her worth'?

At least ginger hair is being well-represented. :p

Not really, according to what I've gathered in my very anti-spoiler search
it's about how a girl who defies custom and challenges destiny unleashes a curse that causes chaos and havoc in the kingdom. The movie is about her going on a quest to fix what she has wrought.
Remember, Pixar trailers are often deceiving.

    How to Train Your Bear?

Just kidding, I know Pixar does good work. Looking forward to this.

it looks alright. but it looks too much like how to train your dragon. which is having a sequel too, isn't it? disney/pixar, needs to stop trying to copy dreamworks...

and it does look like mulan's plot, where's the "be a man" song or what ever? :lol

Regarding Dreamworks, that's not a fair comparison. Brave has been in development for many years now, beginning production far earlier than How to Train You Dragon debuted. If the films ends up being similar it would have just been a coincidence, but it's highly unlikely they'd share many similarities if at all. One's a viking tale, another is a scottish medieval fantasy.

Also, the plot won't be the same as Mulan, despite what may appear to be. I think it's more of a deconstruction of the Mulan-style story, but of course we know very little at this point and I rather not delve further for fear of spoilers.

    Disappointing.

I would've paid a ton of money to see Pixar make a movie with Symmetrical Docking.

It looks very Dreamworks-like. I'm not looking forward to this very much, but I could be pleasantly surprised like what happened with WALL•E.

Oh God that would've been beautiful.

Anyway, considering Pixar's only sore point with me is Cars 2, I'm willing to give them another chance.

Generic and boring trailer is generic and boring.

I was more excited for Cars 2 than Brave. I don't like old timey setting movies like this.

So from looking at the blacked out stuff on the previous page and the way the trailer played looks like this will be a weird cross between prince of persia and mulan. Huh interesting.

Looks like a fun romp to me, and I think most of the similarities between this and HTTYD have a lot to do with two things:

The art style seems similar, but its nice regardless

I'm sure the head Scotsman who does all the talking is Craig Ferguson, who was Gobber.

    Crossover fanart/fiction in 5, 4, 3......
