    http://www.tfarchive.com/cartoons/japanese/pioneercovers.php

They might be out there on the interweb some place already, but this afternoon I scanned in all the DVD covers from the Japanese Pioneer box sets for Super Robot Life Transformers Box 1 and 2 and the 2010 box.

Some of the art's pretty funky.

    Enjoy!

Gotta love Optimus Prime's glowing blue wang at the bottom of the page.

That really looks like Makoto Ono's style. I wonder if he was the artist...

Regrettfully, I couldn't find a listing of the artists anywhere in the booklets that came with the sets.

The cover art for the DVDs were taken from the previous Laserdisc releases.

The only artist I know for SURE is Hirofumi Ichikawa (the Binaltech story-guy). He did the one of Shockwave with Devastator.

The pic with Grimlock is kind of weird with his robot head sticking out of his chest. Besides that those are some nice pics!

The cover artists are listed below the episode listing on the back of the DVD, where it says "Cover Illustration:" in English. The artist for the booklet covers should be on the back or inside cover. The only other name besides Ichikawa-sensei I recognize off the bat is the Disc 9 (Prime transforming) art, Takahiro Yamada: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=5829

Besides the stuff listed there, he was also one of the mecha/character designers for the BWII, BW Neo, and CR anime and did the VHS covers for those series (and DVD in the case of CR, but I'm not positive he did the CR covers as I don't have them in front of me at the moment).

He also worked on the Machine Robo anime I believe, and did some LD/DVD covers for that series as well.
