New Pictures of King Grimlock out of box and compared to the Original Grimlock:
Sadly, that seem to be less of a comparison than "small-ass pics of new Grimlock and old Grimlock in different modes." Unless there's a link to more pics that I can't see because I can't read Japanese :/
I got to admit that looks pretty sweet.
Cool... can't wait to get mine...
Very weak indeed.
so for those of us who haven't gotten mp-grimlock yet, is this the one we should get or just stick to the original release? is it worth it to pay the extra cash cause it's damn expensive and what exactly is the big difference? i noticed the mp-8x has more of a blue color scheme on his legs and arms?
It just came out... sooner you're going to see more comparison pictures from those who are willing to open it. I'm not one of them.
The difference mainly is the overall color scheme along with the box. I bought it cause I really like the box and it's staying that way. I'll have it AFA graded right away. And probably I'm not the only one doing this....
Here you go some MP-08X Grimlock pics courtesy of Higekumatoy.blog

The colors does closely resemble the comic depiction of Grimlock... cool
To be honest, I'll have to play devil's advocate and advise against this King Grimlock redeco. It's not like this new version is slightly costlier than the normal version. This version is a lot costlier. The only new accessory is a crown. Up to you to decide if a crown, a box, and new colors are worth about $100 more.
I think the original version looks better. This new version uses blue instead of black, because the comic books in the 80s used dark blue to simulate black. Again, up to you if you prefer this new paint job. My recommendation is to get the MP-08. It's cheaper, I like its colors better, and all you're really missing is the crown accessory.
That doesn't look good, the blue just makes him look like a KO.
I just wish there was some way of getting the sword on it's own, it's a hell of a lot better than the one with regular Grimlock.
Looks okay, but I prefer my original MP Grimlock. It should also be interesting to see if Hasbro's eventual version will look more like this one or the first MP-08.
TBH....while the effort is appreciated....I personally don't care for the coloration on this one at all. I mean the colors that they used to use with the earlier Marvel Comics never sat right with me. Although, I think I understand why they did it (alternate colors so as to not drown out details and such), they just looked really weird. And by doing this to Grimlock, it just looks like a big error.
I much prefer the regular colors. And I hope that Hasbro uses those for their release of MP Grimlock.
The color does look strange, but I really hope it's just because of a crappy camera at work. I bet the blue is a lot darker in person. Consider how bright the grey and other colors look this wouldn't be a surprise if it's the case.
A large area of black with no highlighting would look wrong; blue was used for black areas to allow detail to be added to them.
I don't think this looks at all good, to be honest. pass.
I prefer the original MP Grimlock colors, but I do like the crown.
Ahh...I figured as much.
It's the only bit I'd want. I'd gladly trade the tray and apron dealio from my MP Grimlock for that any day.
while i dont own MP Grimlock i will say that after looking at galleries of both version this one is probably the one i would prefer. I agree with others that his cartoon coloration is better looking that the comic one. but on this figure i tend to think to blue and much deeper gold chrome are a huge plus. but hey what do i know im too poor to buy either version of him. lol
Love the new sword, looks much better...the blue, not so much. :/
I think the ultimate Grimlock would be by having both and remove the blue parts for the black parts.
I love the Dark gold and silver paintjob better than the grey on the comic version (Chest silver is very nice aswel). However the blue trows me off.
