A very good friend of the site has provided us with some pics and info from the Licening 2006 Event. Hasbro's booth was, in a word, dissappointing. Their setup was very similar to last year's with no new products or major info available.

About the only thing worth mentioning is that they had a display of a Playstation2, and X-Box360 and a Gamecube. Below that display were titles for Transformers, Dungeons & Dragons and G.I. Joe Sigma 6.

Word is that Dreamworks was in attendance, but you needed an appointment to visit with them. So for now, enjoy the pics.

That'd be neat. Then again, I guess I don't have to think very hard to picture TF Fruit of the Loom clothing, so maybe I'm just hoping for too much.  

 

Honestly the last 2 years have been letdown's compared to 03 and 04. How many people remember us breaking the first pics and video from Energon? Damn that was a good showing by Hasbro. Perhaps they're just kinda coasting right now, knowing that they have a huge year coming up.

 

Actually, it appears to be some kind of test unit from Sony.

There's a subtle difference in the lettering.

 

I honestly didn't look all that closely at the pics. 

 

My guess is they the TF Movie Game will be on the 360, PS3 and Wii not the Cube and PS2 considering that the movie is due well after the launch of the new systems and they are showing the 360 and not the Xbox-1.

That said I would be all excited about a new G.I. Joe game, but that fact that it's being based on Ugly Ass Sigma Sux bumms me out to no end.

 

Honestly, I find the Sigma 6 figures to be the most interesting and fun looking action figures out in a long time. I've come close to buying a couple though I've never been a G.I. Joe fan.

I think the character desings (based solely on the toys) would look great in videogame form.

 

It says "Test" on the side, they are debug units. I have one on my desk at work. They are spiffy.

And I would imagine the games to be on everything, PS1 games were selling by the hundreds of thousands 18 months after PS2 launched.

 

Eh to each his own I guess, I think the angular features and the over emphasized proportions are a big turn off. Atleast with them pushing that line I am not tempted to spend more money.

I sure hope the game comes out on PS2. It's the system I'm familiar with and I don't have the cash to get any of the new ones (360, Wii, etc.)

Outside of personal bias, it also makes sense to me to release it on the PS2, like Twist said - they're still making PS2 games now and I remember other game companies releasing PS1 games right up until the release of the PS2...

 

I like the shinyness. That's about it.
