That's a relief! There is a God, indeed… Except he was on vacation when Peter Jackson did King Kong.

Thank God! I like Raimi and all, but Jackson made the LotR movies IMO. No one else could have pulled that vision off save for Tokien himself...

Jackson isn't necessarily directing. Per the article, he is serving as an executive producer.

Still, having Jackson's hands involved in it is a very, very good thing. In the end, I also wouldn't be surprised if he directs.

I wonder how much of that 100 million they owed him he got back.

Anyway the only other person who could have lead the Hobbit would have been Guillermo Del Toro. Even then it would not fit in with the LotR trilogy.

I'm happy that Jackson received some, if not all, of the money he was owed and will be coming home for the Hobbit.

    Thanx

    Not quite: 2 HOBBIT movies.

One will be an adaptaion of J.R.R. Tolkien's THE HOBBIT. The second project is believed to be a bridge between THE HOBBIT and THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy - culled from the titanic amount of periphery/ancillary/notated material found in Tolkien's works.

Very exciting news. What's equally important, at least to me, is that Jackson will more than likely bring WETA with him.

I think there are a number of directors who could pull it off.

But, I am glad that Jackson is involved with the movie.
The man just absolutely loves the source material.

It's important to note that no one has been announced as directing.

Peter Jackson is producing the films (along with Fran Walsh).

    The thread title is inaccurate.

This is great news. There's been a dark cloud hanging over The Hobbit movie for far too long.
