Depending on who they get to replace Jackson, they might be good or bad. But either way they probably will not feel like part of the same series. This sucks in my opinion.

At first I was thinking "Why would they remove him from a project that would make them millions?" then I got to the part about the lawsuit, and all is understood.

Hmmm... I really want to see the Hobbit be on par with the LotR films.. I'll wait to see who will be taking PJ's place before I get too worried here.

That sucks, I never though Jackson would go out like that with a lawsuit about not being paid enough. I'm sure he's barely scraping by these days because he got short changed on Fellowship. I guess all the millions from the other 2 films and all the awards just wasn't enough for him. Why couldn't they come to a mutual agreement? Is there anyone in Hollywood these days that isn't a money grubbing whore?

The movie will def. have a diferent feel to it without him. That sucks man, they should've paid him, I mean they will make it back with the Hobbit.

I dunno, I think it's more the principle than anything else. Like if I made several figures, and realized I had money being siphoned away from me. If I didn't do anything it'd set the precedent that I'm happily suckered or something. :D

This news sucks though, I dunno if I'm very interested in the Hobbit if it's done in a different style than its sequels.

The films will feel different but as they taking place in different times it might work. Jackson isn't the only decent director around, it might still end up in good hands.

Not a fan, or does it have something to do with personal politics?

I don't care for Peter Jackson one way or the other (I fell asleep three times watching King Kong on DVD), and LOTR as a whole blows. So you combine the two and you get movies that I've never once had an inclination to watch.

It means each movie won't be 16 hours long

The Hobbit has a very different tone to it, it might not be a bad thing to have a different director.

I do hope Weta dose the effects, being a continuity whore if Gollum doesn’t look the same it’s going to bug me.

Not sure if you're referring to PJ or the US company (whichever one it was), PJ does all his work in New Zealand.

As to Weta, if paid, yeah, they'll do it. And Weta *is* PJ's effects company, same way ILM is Lucas'. It was formed to do effects for Jackson's movies but will work for other productions.

However, since they're apparently doing the effects work for Halo, they may be a bit busy.
