    Well, this is a debate I've made before, upon who plays the "better" Prime. I like Cullen's version the most, but Gary Chalk very close him in my opinion. Some people have said that Chalk plays a better Primal the Prime, but I think otherwise. Peter Cullen's voice is more noble and "older". Gary Chalk's voice is more commanding and vocal. Neil Kaplan is my least favorite voice of Prime. He possessed neither in his impression.

    So who do you think sounds better as Prime? Peter Cullen - the voice of G1 and Movie Prime. Or Gary Chalk - the voice of Optimus Primal and A/E/C Optimus Prime.

    NOTE: Sorry that I spelled "your" wrong in this thread's name.

    I liked cullen for Prime and Chalk did an amazing job as Primal. But I didn't like him as Prime in A/E/C especially when he did the growling thing that was ok for Primal since he was an Ape.

    There's only one person who should ever voice optimus prime, and that's cullen.

    Chalk did an excellent job as Primal, and a very good job as Prime in A/E/C, but Cullen's will always be the voice I think of when I think of Optimus Prime. I didn't watch too much A/E/C, but watched a lot of G1 and with the movie, Cullen is just the one, to me, synonymous with Prime.

    If Cullen hadn't have been Prime in the movie I would not have enjoyed nearly as much as I did.

    When I first heard about the movie I was all for Chalk to voice Prime. He was more modern, and had a very commanding voice. I honestly did not think that Cullen's voice would still have the impact it once did.

    Well, I was VERY wrong.

    Cullen... Hands down IS Optimus Prime!

    You also misspelled Chalk's first name. His birth name is Garry. "Gary" is the *Americanized* spelling.

    As for who plays the best Prime... they're two completely different characters, and the acting direction was different as well. I like Cullen's Prime voice better, but then I'm old skool that way. But I think Chalk's a solid voice actor too, and he did a great job as Optimus Primal.

    Chalk did a wonderful later era Prime and he was perfect for primal.

    Cullen however is what makes PRIME who he is. He's got the "battle worn" sound to his voice among, just the perfect fit.

    Exactly. Chalk sucks at Prime. Yet Primal is just so fitting.

    Cullen's Prime voice only works as Prime.

    Cullen = Prime.

    Chalk = Primal.

    FTW.

    Cullen= Prime
    Chalk=Primal

    A new show with both of them in those rules would rule!

    IMO, they both represent different Primes.

    Cullen is the older, wiser, more hardened version of Prime, ala G1. On the other hand, Chalk is the younger, more upbeat Prime, ala AEC. I guess he plays a good Primal as well.

    I think that cullen's voice sound alot more epic than chalk's. I really don't mind chalk doing the voice for the series but as for the movie, anyone other than cullen would sound wrong IMO.

    IMHO, Peter Cullen and the passion, heart, and feeling he brought to Prime with the inspiration of his brother is the driving force in the original success of the Transformers.
    Could it have worked with someone else? Sure, but would it have had the effect it had on fans, young and old alike in the beginning? Everyone who has voiced Prime has emulated what Peter Cullen brought to the character.
    Long answer short...CULLEN!

    I am pretty much in complete agreement with Jourdo here. I wanted Chalk to voice Prime in the movie because I had grown up on Beast Wars and Gary Chalk and had never really seen G1 so I didn't know what Peter Cullen sounded like. So when I originally heard that Cullen was going to do the voice I was a little disappointed. Then a few months before the movie came out in theaters I wanted to see what the original show was like. Therefore I was introduced to the wonderful world of G1. I loved it and now I realize that Peter Cullen is the only Optimus Prime. Gary Chalk though does an excellent Primal.

    Cullen sounds way more definitive and iconic, and it's not just the nostalgia
