Just need Neil Kaplan and we're set.

Therefore this year could be the Best Botcon ever.

This will be my first and probably only botcon for me too but to each their own. If they've been there 1 time or 100 times, they paid for the expereinces I did and we have equal chance at that. Now I'll admit I'm probably going to be lazy and sleep instead of sitting in a line for 10 hours before hand next to some guy that may or may not need to take a shower, but that's my choice so.....then again, do they allow people to hold a spot for....make work in shifts with friends to hold our spot in line....how do you think the same "good ole boys club" gets theirs every year.

Anyways, glad to hear Cullen will be there as it sheds a little postive light on the negative botcon news lately.

As much as I'd love to see that happen, I don't think it's going to. Last night on Twitter, someone posed the notion of him completing the quartet of Optimus Primes at Botcon. This was the exchange:

    @Monzo12782

@botcon So we have Chalk, Cullen, and Kaye. 3 out of 4 TV Optimuses. Do we get Neil Kaplan to finish the set?

    Neil Kaplan‏@NeKap

@Monzo12782 They would have to ask me first. And it is my understanding that the answer from them is "no".

Does anyone here know why that might be the case? Is there some kind of bad blood between him and Hasbro/FunPub?

Maybe if the fans rally hard over the next few days there will be a last-minute invite coming Neil's way? Hell, I'll get the ball rolling now:

I am currently not slated to attend Botcon 2012 and cannot afford to drop $1000 on the hobby right now, but if Neil Kaplan is announced as a guest I will drop everything in my life at the last minute to get my ass to Dallas to meet and greet all 4 Optimus Primes in the same room at the same time.

Does anyone else here feel the same way?

FYI, I just got some volunteer info from Fun Pub and it looks like they will be doing a lottery for Peter Cullen autographs for Sat afternoon limited to 1 item per person. There will be no early line up.

So, I'm confused...I'm getting to go to Botcon for my first (and probably only) time this year. Does this mean only a few people get to meet Peter Cullen, or...? How does this whole thing work? I was seriously stoked when I heard he was going to be there, but now it sounds like only a small percentage of people actually get to meet him/get an autograph?

Unfortunately it would appear that a limited number of people will be randomly awarded the opportunity to get his autograph. In years past, whoever lined up early enough could get something signed before they cut off the line. I sort of like this approach better myself. I was willing to wake up extra early to get my spot in line.

I imagine you just submit your name to them probably at the FunPub info desk by a certain time and they will announce the winners by noon on Sat.

I guess doing a lottery would remove the "standing in line for 12 hours" problem, but...dammit...before this, I felt like I had a real shot at meeting Peter Cullen. :(

I think the idea isn't bad.. just not for this year considering everything that has gone down recently.

That's just the thing, I think the lottery thing decreases your chances even more. AND, I wanna say that last year they even stopped people from lining up early for his life ...

Regardless, his popularity has sky rocketed since 2007. It's the nature of the beast to limit his line even more.
