Well he's directed The Rundown, The Kingdom and Hancock so he's got some experience directing action films. Although it kind of gives me mixed feelings because the first half of Hancock was a great film but the second half was an unwatchable family friendly mess that did not have the balls to say he was beat up in the 30's because he was a black man dating a white woman.

A real test if he can turn Battleship into something cool or if ends up something like Battlefield LA where the trailers were cool but the film just couldn't live up to the trailers.

Having seen a few of his films over the last few years I’m actually convinced that Peter Berg and Michael Bay are one and the same. I don’t think they’ve ever been seen at the same place at the same time.

:lol  I think Peter Berg is the only other director out there who could stand toe to toe with Michael Bay action-wise. And, on top of that, he can capture emotion and character development very well (if you don't believe me, then watch The Kingdom), something that Mr. Bay tends to struggle with.

Perhaps if Battleship does really well, he might have a hand in a future Transformers installment.

Yeah, unfortunately, I can sort of see this movie turning out to be like RotF or Battle: Los Angeles (both of which I enjoyed, more or less). Either grossing A LOT of money and getting like, a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes and being deemed "the worst movie of all time", OR barely grossing it's overall budget and getting a 10% on RT and being deemed "the worst movie of all time". I've just got that feeling. But I hope I'm wrong. Either way, I'll be seeing it opening week for my fix of ILM effects and explosions. :D

:lol  The conspiracist in me wants to agree. ;)  But seriously. Maybe it's just because I've seen so much of ILM's battle/military VFX sequences, but there are so many shots in that trailer where you could seamlessly plop Optimus and/or Megatron into the shots and you could 100% sell it as TF4. Sort of like The Avengers trailer.

They sound and look exactly like Decepticons. Except these aliens look like a threat.

It looks like Transformers, minus the deep characterizations, rich storyline, and crisp editing.

That guy is cool.I watched an interview of him a few years ago and he seems like a good guy.(And those evil balls would make a cool Movieverse Eggbot or something.:) )

But if we want to change directors.....maybe Tom Six would be cool(look him on Wikipedia....he has made some "weird" films.

It's like someone took a list of Summer sci-fi movies from the last twenty years or so and chucked them in a blender and made the resulting smoothie into a movie. Is that a good thing? Dunno. It does kinda look like Bay style. I feel if you're gonna change director for the TF movie franchise I'd perhaps like a somewhat more removed style to Bay's.

Ha ha, no more balls in Transformers. It was enough having balls on Devastator I really don't balls flying off and killing someone in the Transformers version of teabagging.

Although I do wonder if this has Hollywood thinking of some kind of live action Bakugan movie. I did find this description of it
If we only knew some director who did explosions.

I'm a sucker for this kind of shit. I will definitely be going to see this. As for the director, well I have seen a few of Berg's movies in the past but I can't say they've ever made that much of an impression on me to consider him as a potential TF director. If I had to choose between him and Bay, it would be Bay every time, as he has the experience of the franchise and more familiarity with the characters etc.

Now I won't be satisfied unless a TF's balls explode off him and he does a perfect headshot kill to an enemy with them.

Make the ball MiniCon minions if you like. Testicons.

This does not look much different from Transformers, except this isn't about robots, but aliens.

    edit:
And by Transformers I don't mean Transformers, but the Bay movies.

Not a fan of his stuff tbh, would prefer Brian Singer or JJ Abrams.
