Cesium is definitely the better figure in both modes when it comes to toon accuracy, but unfortunately it just doesn't match the aesthetic of the other FT Dinobots because of the bot mode being way too big. Even with all the 'clever' poses and/or distance positioning that people post pictures of to make it look like it fits in, it just doesn't. It looks like a completely different stand-alone figure from another line being shoehorned into the other 4 figures.

So in that regard, I think Scoria is still the one for bot mode line-up consistency. But if you have doubles for dual mode display, then get Cesium for the dino mode.

I originally bought Cesium, and out of curiosity, bought Scoria. I too feel that Cesium is too big to fit in with the other Dibots in both robot mode and dino mode. I dino mode, his back is taller than Stomp's, his legs feel like the wheels of an F1 racecar - they are thick, larger, and stick out of the body.

Not to say that I dislike the toy. I prefer Cesium over Scoria due to the cartoon accuracy, and the engineering. He's just a bit too big and has slightly less detail than Scoria.

I just did the same thing. I got Cesium when he came out. I liked him a lot at first but over the months of looking at him his style just didn't seem to fit with the other dibots. So I picked up a reissue Scoria off of eBay for a pretty good deal. Turns out I like Scoria better. He seems better built and feels less fiddly while transforming him. My Cesium is now on eBay looking for a new home.

Scoria could but its really loose.

Not really, just position his fingers prior and you're good to go!

Do Scoria's aesthetics in one or both modes really bother you? Is he one of the older versions that's become a floppy mess?

Cesium might solve one or both of those problems for you, at the cost of him being a bit under-detailed/over-sized/cheap-feeling. Whether he's "worth it", will depend on how much each of those factors matter to you.

For what it's worth, I initially picked up Cesium, found myself unhappy with him, and switched out for Scoria. If you do buy Cesium, I'd wait until you have him in-hand before offloading Scoria.

Insanity is the in thing to do in todays society apparently. :confused2

I've had this guy for quite a while now. Really like him. Never had Scoria so I can't compare the two. Finally was able to finagle the back flap to tab in when he's in dino mode. Only took me months. :)

Of course haven't had a lot of time to mess with him either. :D

I ordered a bunch of 3D faction reprolabels from ToyHax and found the Perfect (Effect) use for the mirror-backed raised 3D emblem.

    IMAG8206.jpg

At first glance, it might resemble your typical reprolabel... but a closer look reveals the 3D texture of the Autobot insignia...

    IMAG8210.jpg

    IMAG8216.jpg

The raised 3D labels didn't really look stunning on other Autobots because few have the chromium applied finish. But on Perfect Effect Cesium, the mirror-finish and 3D aspects really shine!!

    Cheers!!
