I believe the top one is Scoria.
which version of scoria is that. mine doesnt have the blue bits on the front shoulders
That's the rerelease. I have a v1 and v2 and there are a few paint differences and such. The mouth on V1 is gold chromed on the side and silver chrome on the V2. Same figures just some difference in appearance here and there.
i guess i have a v1 then
Nothing wrong with that. Honestly my V1 is my favorite of the two anyhow
Movin' on up like George and Caesie!
Neither the gun nor the sword light up... I took the sword apart and one of the wires seems to have been across the bottom screw hole when it was assembled, so it's cut. Didn't bother taking the gun apart to check it. Lame.
Holla at @dalianjj so he can get replacement weapons out to you.
Ya, I'm gonna hit 'em up thru their official email since he probably gets a ton of PMs thru here. I'd even take a stab at fixing it myself, but those wires are soooo tiny.
He takes PMs on here just fine. No need to worry. I PMed him through here 2 days ago and he's having a replacement Grinder head sent to me.
Oh cool, thanks
Well, you know what they say....one man's masterpiece is another man's disasterpiece.
From an aesthetics point of view, I think Caesium absolutely destroys Scoria, it's not even close! Scoria's potato mode, how diminutive he is in robot-mode and thus inaccurate scaling, the gaps between his arms in torso in robot mode, how he can't even handle his sword properly, the frill on his neck...how disjointed it looks because it is so far from his body because of the connection, his toon inaccurate crotch and feet.....MEH, all these things seriously work against him and are still present no matter how heavy he is, #IDontBenchPressMyTfs.
From an aesthetics point of view, the only thing Scoria has going for him is his dino head which seems to be more accurate to the source material whereas as Caesium's seems a bit too organic for my toon accuracy tastes. Other than that it's an epic landslide in favour of Caesium.
Ahh......seems like a lifetime ago when Dalianjj showed Caesium's prototype....the only thing that went through my mind at that moment was how much money I could make off Scoria on E-bay, it wasn't even a contest quite frankly?
Finally transformed this guy to place him with the rest of his crew in dino mode and man do they looks great together. Was going to hold off on an X version but may need to swap out my scoria X in the robot mode display. We still don't have any idea when the X will be available, right?
I still don't understand why FansToys would release a similar figure under the Perfect Fusion name...
Mostly it was because some people thought the original looked "dated" or looks like a potato LOL. Personally (and YMMV) I think Scoria fits right in fine with the originals, better than Cesium...but that's me.
It's from a different designer than the originals as well. I think perhaps someone had a design on the drawing board somewhere and someone at FT's said "Sure...they've been clamoring for a new slag...lets run with it..make it a little less premium so we can bring the price down and see what happens" so they made a new one under Perfect Fusion. That's complete speculation on my part of course.
MMC Has different lines too *shrug*
I still wish this was being released under the main FT line.
There must have been a reason why to start a sub-line. Would be interesting to see what the rest of the PF Dinobot line would look like.
I personally believe it’s because Perfect Fusion is a cheaper line, and they don’t want to mixed it with the main line, FansToys, to avoid tarnishing the name associated with high quality.
Decided to give this guy a try as the first release Scoria is super floppy now. Found a new one locally and fiddled with him in office today.
