I still don't understand why FansToys would release a similar figure under the Perfect Fusion name...

Mostly it was because some people thought the original looked "dated" or looks like a potato LOL. Personally (and YMMV) I think Scoria fits right in fine with the originals, better than Cesium...but that's me.

It's from a different designer than the originals as well. I think perhaps someone had a design on the drawing board somewhere and someone at FT's said "Sure...they've been clamoring for a new slag...lets run with it..make it a little less premium so we can bring the price down and see what happens" so they made a new one under Perfect Fusion. That's complete speculation on my part of course.

I still wish this was being released under the main FT line.

There must have been a reason why to start a sub-line. Would be interesting to see what the rest of the PF Dinobot line would look like.

I personally believe it’s because Perfect Fusion is a cheaper line, and they don’t want to mixed it with the main line, FansToys, to avoid tarnishing the name associated with high quality.

Decided to give this guy a try as the first release Scoria is super floppy now. Found a new one locally and fiddled with him in office today.

Is this guy worth getting if I already have Scoria?

    Yes, no, maybe!

I still have both, as there are things I prefer on both of them.

Ceasium doesnt have the same design issues with floppy hips, holding weapons etc, but has a few small niggles of his own, such as the head plate rotation having little clearance and the back plate being a pain to tab in for alt mode.
I like the overall shape of ceasiums alt mode more, but scoria's has a much better dino head sculpt and tail and a flame projector in the mouth, which is absolutely a requirement for slag!
I don't think size is much of an issue, Im happy with either in bot mode tbh but Ceasium is bulkier. His upper body proportions are better but his lower legs look far too bulky for me.

Ceasium doesn't have the same level of detailing as the other dibots, especially from the waist down in bot mode its very plain looking and I think scoria fits in better in that regard. Alt mode has less sculpted detail too. The overall finish and quality is a notch lower than their grimlock and sludge was, its not bad by any means just not as good, I especially noticed this in the hands. No stress marks anywhere on mine or anything like that.

I wish I could tell you its a straight forward choice between the two but for me its not :(

Yes, he is. This way you can display one Slag in each mode!

And by the way, Orion's analysis is spot on! :thumbs2:

Echoing what @Orion2703 said exactly, both have pros and cons. Ultimately both will be chucked aside if Scoria 2.0 ever does get released.

Can anyone confirm if the horns from Caesium can be used on Scoria?

Yup fits quite snugly and the size of the horn base (where Cesium’s red horn meets the gold portion) is just about right. PM me if you need any other views.

Wow, thank you so much buddy, this is really good news for me. Can you check if the Gun or Sword of Caesium can somehow fit on Scoria?

The tabs on Cesium’s weapons are longer but I guess you still can make Scoria grip without tabbing in?

Yeah, forget the tab, is the gun or even the sword holdable somewhat by scoria?
