I don't know. I think there's some room for innovation while maintaining the G1 aesthetic. Stomp hides the dino head.

There's already plenty of options with the Grimlock hanging dino head but I'd personally prefer the cleanest bot mode possible like Takara hiding the ladder/crane with Inferno and Grapple.

I thought in the G1 Sluge's Dino head was hidden. Grimlock's wasn't

 

I think Cesium looks great, but I think Scoria is a better fit with the other DiBots, personally speaking. Plus, once you get Cesium, you know PF will have you by the short and curlies with new versions of the rest of the squad in due time. I'm more than content with my current FT Dinos and will leave well enough alone.

 

They are only doing one dinobot.

 

I dunno... IMHO there's a big difference between hiding parts because they weren't there in the cartoon, to going above-and-beyond and hiding stuff that shouldn't necessarily be hid.

Grimlock's dino head on his back is just as mandatory for me as Soundwave's waist buttons, Prowl's door wings or Jazz's hood chest. Some alt-mode kibble is meant to be there.

The thing with Stomp is that the toon character model for Sludge is a bit more indistinct. There are little nodules on the sides of the robot legs that are almost dino limbs but not quite. There's a section on his back that's almost a dino neck but not quite.

It's a testament to Stomp's engineering how the brontosaurus back legs and neck/head are reduced to almost vestigial shapes in robot mode - just how it looked in the cartoon.

Sometimes, just because you can hide something, doesn't mean you should.

Well im a lot happier with these new pics, seems Scoria is still valid, and Cesium is very good. Still tempted with a 2nd Cesium while he's available, those hind legs and new head demand keeping one in dino mode.

Anyone else tempted to put a black scoria head on him, and try the smokey scoria dino head?

Just wait. Dalianjj and company know the Dinobots are a goldmine, especially at the Cesium price point. And people are already asking for a new Soar.

 

That was only like 5 people on a small forum, maybe that is why dalianjj isnt reissuing swoop Holy. Shit. Is it possible, hes the only other one i can buy, mostly because he be the only swoop available that isn't red.

Snarl is too much of a risk to do.

I think that's probably the difference in our viewpoints. I don't recall too clearly but I thought in the cartoon his back was clean. I could only find this particular image of perhaps a design reference where his head is kind of merged into the back but I thought the cartoon didn't show much vestiges of a head on his back.

I hope the reviews are good. But even if they are mediocre, still glad I have this guy paid for already
