After many, many broken and empty promises, I finally present a picture review of Perfect Effect's PE-02 and PX-01!

First up, I apologize for the stove-top background, my house is unfortunately bereft of open, flat surfaces and for the overall quality of the pictures. Onward!

Shadow Demolitions is a straight repaint of the earlier PE-01 Shadow Warrior. The yellow paint applications on Warrior have been replaced with bright red for Demo and visually, the differences stop there.

For a while, I wondered whether or not Demo was a new molding from Warrior, or if the Demo figures were just made from existing stock, but after some extended play... I feel with some certainty that Demo was cast after PE-01 had already been made.

Demo's neck joint is quite a bit looser than Warrior's and coupled with the stumpy 5mm peg that joint uses in alternate mode; its been more than a little frustrating pegging him onto other figures, with and without the use of the peg extender/trigger. That same joint has only become looser the more I've transformed the figure... at present, the slightest force causes his neck to slip down into the figure's chest, which is a bummer. Mold degradation?

Further... and I didn't realize this until today, but at least my version of the little guy seems completely incapable of wielding any of his weapons in his left hand or slung under his left arm. Possibly from excess paint use when detailing the figure, but I was unable to peg either of the hand guns into the fist or attaching the gatling gun/pile driver into his arm. Another bummer.

However, he still looks quite nice when paired with PE-01 and Shadow Commander Nemesis Prime and loose neck joint aside, the figure still functions as intended in targetmaster mode... though attaching him to other figures can be a trial in of itself.

I know a lot of folks only wanted to see Pefect Effect produce Rumble and Frenzy from this mold, without much consideration for Shadow Warrior or Shadow Demolitions. But I really applaud them for trying to kick out some(what) original looking bots from Rumble and Frenzy's visage. That being said, I'm kind've a financially reckless nut and can't imagine there're many folks looking for four versions of this toy, especially when two of them are extremely similar.

I love Perfect Effect and most of their crazy, tiny creations (no thanks, King Bat) but unless you want a slightly different looking Shadow Warrior or having a burning, insatiable need to stick Shadow Commander's BFG to his back, I'd say your money is better spent elsewhere.

Check the following post for details on the PX-01 Shadow Pack!

    PX-01 Shadow Pack

A lot of folks are probably going to be more familiar with this accessory as a part of the PX-04 Ultimate Form set for City Commander, but it was first glimpsed as a bundled bonus for purchasing PE-02 Shadow Demolitions.

The Shadow Pack is a neat little doo-dad that can attach to Shadow Commander in both vehicle and robot mode. In vehicle mode, the pack adds a number of ports allowing primarily Shadow Warrior/Demolitions to be slotted on either side of the trailer -- because what truck doesn't need eight chain guns glommed onto it? Aside of the two Shadow Minions, pretty much any weapon with a 5mm peg can be popped onto the Shadow Pack. The pack itself also features some fairly rich detailing, with four forward facing flood lights to assist Nemesis Prime in his nighttime driving/murdering. There's also a pair of opening doors on the top which reveal a small bank of missile pods for added Macross Missile SpamTM.

...in what is surely an unintended, but still incredibly cool feature, there's a small plastic rail towards the back of the Shadow Pack that can accept any weapon from the 3mm clip-on system. Neat!

In Robot mode, the missile bay doors slot onto Shadow Commander's back. The 5mm peg holes are still available for use here, allowing for the storage of any number of weapons and accessories. Primarily though, there is a thin tab molded at an angle upon which, the Shadow Commander's gigantic BFG can be mounted for storage.

Storing the BFG on his back doesn't do much for the figure's overall look, however. He becomes incredibly back heavy and really increases the figure's depth, you're gonna want some deep shelves if you intend to display him this way. I can say however, that the connection is fairly solid. I had him posed on a table for well over a day with the BFG slung on his back and everything remained in place. I imagine though, the connection wouldn't stand up to play, as the BFG would likely just pop off with minimum force.

All in all, its a neat little accessory that has more merit in allowing another half-dozen weapons to be attached to Shadow Commander, moreso than the intended use of allowing him to lug the BFG around instead of having to set it to the side.

I like it well enough, but it probably won't make you see Shadow Commander in a whole new light. Shadow Commander stands well enough on his own without another tiny bit of plastic to wedge on his back. Again, probably only recommended for the financially reckless.

If anyone would like me to snap some more pics, just give the say so. I'll try and sort that out in a fashion quicker than what I used getting this thread off the ground.

@Maverick Hunter Christian -- how does the PX-01 look on City Commander? I don't have the shadow commander but the stores here only carry PX-01 and I was wondering if it was worth the cash?

How well do the PE-02's fit on Shadow Commander's shoulder holes? Are they a decent fit or are they horribly loose?

Can you take a picture with all 4 repaints attached to the backpack in trailer mode?
