This is the G1 Perceptor that will be released later this year, probably in september by Hasbro.

Had him sitting on my couch in my apartment for over a week... figured i better check him out and take some pics.

It does NOT have a SPRING in the GUN :(

    sucks ass

just for that reason its a POS nevermind that THE MISSILE FALLS OUT OF THE GUN ALL THE TIME!!! The switch is too loose and doesnt lock the missile properly!! So double POS

I dont know why they have to take the spring out of a toy that mainly adults buy.

There are photos of the back of him, someone can let me know how the markings or stamped numbers may differ from the original and previous TFC Book re issue. Thanks.

I don't really care about the spring. The missile launcher will probably stay in the box anyway, spring or not.

Just because it lacks the spring, it's a POS? That's interesting....

Don't care about the spring. First thing I do is take the missiles out anyway, before I shoot myself in the eye.

I'm wondering how a missing spring automatically turns it into a piece of shit, though :lol  I'd say because it's intended adults is the REASON it doesn't have a spring..kids want to play with the missiles maybe, but since adults mostly only collect, there is no real reason for a spring. Maybe there was an issue with implementing the springs so they decided it would not be missed.

    Thanks for the pictures!

I think the issue with the no spring is looked down upon because with re-issues, you want the same toy that was issued in the 80's, not some toy with remoded parts or missing pieces.

That's understandable, but with different safety laws these days, we'd either have to get giant missiles, or no spring. I wish they went the "no spring" route with the seeker reissues instead of the giant missiles.

Is anyone surprised at this? Hasbro has removed the springs from lots of reissued TFs. It's just something they have to do these days (that, or elongate the missiles to ridiculous proportions like Jazz and the Seekers, and we really don't want that). It certainly doesn't make this a POS.

Having said that, I already have the Takara reissue in all its missile-firing goodness, so I won't get this... but I certainly don't think non-firing missiles is that much of a deal breaker.

And aren't some people forgetting that the original 1980s releases often featured non-firing missiles, or at least extremely limp firing mechanisms?

They remove the spring because the missile's length is not up to current safety standards. So either they take the spring out, or they modify the missile to be huge like the Seeker reissues and the Jazz reissue. Personally I'd much prefer the spring be removed.

    WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

A gun doesn't make the toy.

IMO yeah, you can have your own

It was a bad choice for a reissue anyway because you can still get the Takara TFC book reissue for a reasonable price

Pretty sound logic by Hasbro there, if a compromise has to be made (and it does) then make the one with the least visual effect.

    Dull surprise!

Seriously, I can't imagine why anyone would be surprised by this. The toy is being sold in a brick-and-mortar retail chain to the general public, where there's a chance a child could buy it or it could be bought for a child. The missiles don't meet current safety standards, so the only way to sell it is to either change the missiles or remove the spring...the same thing that's been done with virtually every other Hasbro US reissue.

I honestly don't care about the spring. And I would totally rather have accurate sized missiles than elongated ones. This definitely won't be a deterrent to buying him. Can't wait actually.

That and the fact, it's not like the original Hasbro version fired the missile anyways. It was basically anemic enough to just push the missile out halfway, it definitely didn't fire it across the room.

I don't care about the spring either because I'll probably never open it anyways.

I don't know about where you live, but that's not the case in North America. The only one on eBay right now is Buy It Now $95 compared to the $35 this will sell for. The reissue is not cheap here.

What I don't understand is why the springs are removed anyhow, because my kid has McDonalds Batmobiles and other toys with spring loaded missiles. What's the actual safety issue? No springs in a TF reissue but yes to a spring in a McDonalds toy?

But yeah, this isn't a big thing. Even if I cared about Perceptor as a reissue toy.
