"Peace through tyranny" is a quote that's often attributed to Megatron but I can't find it in G1. Can anyone give me any examples -- any universe (G1, Beast Wars, Armada, 2007, etc), any media type (cartoons, comics, movies, etc).

I just wanna see for myself in what context he says that.

    Thanks everyone!

Really? That's it? That's underwhelming. I was kinda hoping it'd come as some part of some long political manifesto or something.

Maybe I am remembering wrong... but I was just thinking that BW/BM Megs says it in an episode, as well. Does he?

I'd love more philosophy in my Transformers...but it IS an children's toyline & cartoon, y'know :D
I don't remember that offhand, although I've only watched about 2/3d's of BM any time recently. It does sound like a homage Skir woulda tossed in 'round the third season of BW.

even back in the 80's toy companies gave kids a bit more credit on the intelligence side, didn't they?

i noticed they abandoned it for classics. im guessing its a bit too close to real world politics in this day and age.

too bad really, cuz for a kids show, that motto was really cool.

It's also written on the barrel of Megastorm, a repaint of G2 Megatron.

I'd say that with a slogan like "Peace Through Tyranny", any other details are somewhat irrelevant. ;)

Was the motto the same in the G1 Marvel comics bio aka "Transformers Universe" also?

The motto used in the comics was "Everything is fodder."

I don't think he does...the time for him to say it after he absorbs G1 Megs' spark he instead said "Megatrons don't yeild, they conquer" (or something to that effect), which is still a pretty big throwback to the original. You might be thinking of Optimal Optimus who did say "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" to Megatron after taking G1 Prime's spark into his body.

it's Megatron's motto, just like Prime's is "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" kind of thing. G1 Tech specs were awesome.

I don't think most of the G1 bots never said their tech spec bio mottos until later series started to do homages or in-jokes.

Though I was amused to find out that in an Earthforce comic Prowl complained about all the new G1 -master era bots that were popping up.

I'm not sure, but as I recall the mottos have never been used as actual dialog. Not so sure about the comics, but it holds true for the cartoons at least.

THat's why I found it so cool that Prime finally used his motto in the movie. Which got me to thinking. In the movies they really should work in all the quotes from the old G1 TechSpecs. New characters should also get some sort of quotable motto in the films.

LOL, you're right. This is a show where blowing up the earth's biggest source of renewable energy -- the sun -- was something Megatron considered advantageous to the Decepticon cause.

Oh, but, I don't see how "Peace through tyranny" would fit with movie Megatron. He wasn't about ruling the universe as much as he is about power to create and destroy at whim. I'm having trouble articulating but, there's a difference there. It just seems that G1 Megatron struck me more as wanting a social order, a social order to benefit him and him alone but, at least there would be order. Movie Megatron is more about power for power's sake, forget social order.
