Couldn't believe there's not a pictorial thread for this guy as quickly as it sells out on HTS (my apologies if there is one already, it didn't pop up in the search). Anyway Skyhammer was delivered earlier this week. After the initial waves of pics and video reviews I wasn't too interested, but I was pleasantly surprised once I opened the package.

There's nothing extraordinary about the vehicle or even robot mode (not that they are bad) but where this toy shines is in torso mode. The commander head is basically just giving him a hat, but it works very well for Skyhammer.
Everything locks into place, so you don't have to worry about bits flopping around if you pick up the combined mode. I also like the placement of the bot mode elbow guns now on his torso mode shoulders. This small bit was a nice touch.

I only have the Constructicon and Dinobot drones, but Skyhammer looks great combined with the Constructicons. In fact, Skyhammer has the 2nd best torso mode behind Heavytread imo...

I bought the first wave of PCC, but I was so disappointed with them I gave them to my nephews. I decided to give the line another try with this last wave and I was not disappointed. The Constructicons, Dinobots, Heavytread, Undertow and Skyhammer are what I expected from the first wave of PCC. It's sad that the line looks to be ending after Hasbro has refined the toys.

If you come across Skyhammer pick it up if you get the chance! Especially if you have the Constructicons or even the Combaticons. I give it a solid B.

Yeah, I was surprised Skyhammer didn't have a pictorial thread either when I got mine just before Christmas.

It's a excellent little figure. Makes me think of Armada Cyclonus having changed from a helicoptor to a jet mode what with a similar face and the arms slung under wings.
Unlike most of the earlier PCC Scouts he seems to be a bit more complex, more in line with HFTD Scouts or a small Deluxe. Lots of jointing and parts.
Robot mode is nice although his waist clip does seem to want to come undone at the slightest touch. He's got quite good articulation.
Jet mode is pretty cool and the odd orange paint apps sit well with his other darker colours. The only thing that messes with it is the combination pegs under the wings. If they could've been turned to become pods then that would've been better. I suppose you could flip them down and pretend they're for VTOL.

Airlift is one of the better PCC MiniCons. I like how his waist rotates so his gun mode has either a peg for Skyhammer to hold in his hand or a hole so it pegs onto the jet mode. Solid little gun mode, fair enough chest armour mode, and the robot is well-proportioned and is ready with arm cannons.

The torso mode is indeed pretty good. The 'wearing a hat' Commander head is a bit of a cop out but it works quite well, changing him from Armada Cyclonus face to Scorpius from Farscape. :p  With drones attached he's a pretty sleek robot considering the chunky nature of drones, although I'm not fond of the arm pegs being on the wings as I can see the wings flopping down over time from the weight of the arm drones.

I've been championing him when anyone mentions decent PCCs so it's definitely recommended as far as I'm concerned. :)

Is it wrong I'd like the mold redone in G1 Seeker colours?

Let me preface by saying I loathe the PCC line. I initially got Huffer, the Combaticons and the Dinobots, and nearly tossed the lot.
Picked up Skyhammer only because the initial pics made it look a bit like Transtech Starscream, and I wanted to make it into a custom.
I was disappointed again, to say the least.
Sure, it isn't a bad figure overall, but the aesthetic is horrible. The head sits so far above the shoulders and the hips are so wide that it looks mistransformed no matter what.
For now (in my experience), Heavytread is the best of the line, with Huffer being a close runner up.
Sorry for the negativity in a review topic, but unless someone's willing to 'allow' for the looks of the figure, money would be better spent on an older Cyberjet and some adhesive to glue drones to it.

The use of the phrase 'pictorial' review in the original post implies pictures. Those of which are absent.
I totally wanna see this guy up close and personal.

There's no need to apologize, as some objectivity in feedback threads is a good thing. :)

I can see where his aesthetics in bot mode might not be so pleasing to everyone, but they honestly don't bother me.

Agree with your post wholeheartedly. I forgot to mention the minicon though. Besides the chest hump armor mode, Airlift is a cool little bot. The ability to use both male and female Minicon ports is really neat.

Not true. The neck peg is part of the orange piece in the torso, and the whole head assembly turns on the black "collar" portion. The rotation point is just below the small head.

Skyhammer with Airlift - Power Core Combiners Decepticons - TFW2005.COM

I totally love the little guy, he's a lot of fun to fiddle about with. Like all Power Core Combiners, he's not for everyone, but he's got a decent range of poseability and one of the best Mini-cons in the entire line. And his Mini-con has a lot of good movement too.

tired of waiting for him and heavytread to show up (along with those damn g1 legends), he doesn't look as good as heavytread, but he looks pretty cool. Really like the minicon.

Skyhammer is one of the best PCCs. I think it's a great toy, the commander torso mode I consider just a nice bonus. Sure some of his proportions are way off, arms sitting too low... but he's not the only toy with such features. Those who don't like it will point this out. Those, who like him (like me), won't care...
Some pics... he is eeeeeevil incarnate, muhahaha.

Yeah, he's pretty cool. Better than the first PCC jet, that's for sure.

^^ THAT is a GREAT pic.

Just found these at TRU (Minus Heavy tread, Were they in the same shipper?)

Anyways...Spectacular. Leaps and bounds over the first PCC runs. The Jet mode is way better in hand. Bot mode has a very unique look that makes him feel different from just about every TF I own.

The extra helmet is cake. The minicon is one of the best made.

Havent tried linking the torso yet, but I did TF it, and it is great as well.

If you have or like the PCC stuff, go out and find these. It shows how baddass the last runs were, which is sad because hardly anyone is getting to enjoy these.

Robot Mode: Despite having a jet cockpit in the center of his chest, Skyhammer is not your typical jet Transformer. His jet wings don’t go onto his back, no, they form his shoulders and neck area. The head of the robot sits relatively far back, giving him a rather stocky look, but I like it. Looks very different and original. Sadly the shoulder wings don’t properly snap into place, so every arm movement tends to move them, too, but I can live with that.

Despite his slightly strange design, Skyhammer is a very nicely detailed and highly articulated robot. The annoying bright blue PCC connector ports are under his shoulder wings and out of the way, the other two form his heels and aren’t that noticeable, either. He can move with the best of them and isn’t really restricted in any way.

In terms of armaments Skyhammer has got two small guns on his forearms, which point backwards. That’s mostly because they are actually intended for the Power Core Combiner mode (see below), but you can swivel them foreward in this mode, too. They don’t hold that good in that direction, but it’s workable. His primary weapon is, of course, his Targetmaster Minicon Airlift, who can either become a hand-held weapon or attach to the peg in the center of Skyhammer’s chest as a kind of chest-mounted artillery module. Either way, definitely one of the better robot / Targetmaster combinations I’ve seen so far. So bottom line: Skyhammer is a very nice robot. No complaints here at all, though it would have been nice if there was a way to tab in the wings so they wouldn’t move all the time.

Alternate Mode: An SU-35 fighter jet serves as Skyhammer’s alternate mode and I must say that it is one of the best jet alternate modes I’ve seen in a long time in at least one very important aspect: the lack of an underbelly that holds most of the robot parts. Yes, even Skyhammer has a bit of an underbelly, but compared to most other jet Transformers you barely notice it and even the fact that his robot hip somewhat juts out the back can be ignored easily. The most noticeable things are the bright blue PCC connecting ports under the wings, actually.

So what else can I write here? A very nice-looking jet mode, a working landing gear, and no real problems at all. You can arm the jet with Minicon Airlift in weapon mode (see below), but that pretty much ruins the aerodynamics of the jet. To sum it up: a very nice jet mode. Two thumbs up.

Partner: Skyhammer comes with the Minicon Airlift, whom I consider one of the better PCC Minicons. Granted, much like with all the other PCC Minicons his supposed four modes are a bit of a cheat, but he does become a very nice weapon for both Skyhammer’s robot and jet mode, and even becomes a decent chest armor (though chest artillery is more like it). The robot itself isn’t spectacular, but nicely detailed and as articulated as you can expect at this size. So bottom line: a very nice Targetmaster Minicon.

Combiner Mode: Like all Power Core Combiner figures (that aren’t Minicons or drones) Skyhammer can transform into the torso of a bigger robot, which can then use any of the numerous PCC drones as limbs. Unlike most other PCC torsos Skyhammer doesn’t have a second head for the combiner mode, but rather just pulls a helmet over his normal robot head. The helmet even has something resembling flight goggles, a very nice touch.

Otherwise Skyhammer folds in his toes, flips the wings upwards and folds in his arms on the side with the arm guns now pointing forward, and you’re done. He retains his full leg articulation and the head also remains mobile despite the helmet. So basically a good implementation of the Power Core gimmick, though I must say I like Skyhammer better in individual robot mode than as a combiner.

Remarks: Skyhammer was part of the final wave of PCC figures before the line was cancelled, so unlike most other figures from the line he was never repainted and neither was his partner Minicon Airlift (he was released in the Japanese United EX line, though, under the name Airmaster). Much like his wave-mate Heavytread Skyhammer is among the best figures the PCC line produced, but sadly it was too little, too late for the line. Doesn’t change the fact, though, that Skyhammer is one fine Transformer. Probably not a classic for the ages, but definitely worth getting even if you’re not a fan of the Power Core gimmick and just like jet Transformers in general.

    Rating: B+
