    Ebay:
I'm being scammed on ebay....more accurately, paypal. I sold a psp about 2 weeks ago. Guy paid through paypal and I sent the psp to Knoxville, TN. I checked the delivery confirmation, it made it, so I threw it away....now, I get an email saying the guy never received it, and there was a claim to paypal for a refund. My only options on paypal are refunding him....I threw away the del con number, so am I basically screwed? The guy that's claiming it now shows an address in malaysia...I have over 600 fb on eBay (100%) and 16 pages on here...so I don't rip people off....anyone got any suggestions? I always send and rec money through my paypal acct....once funds hit, are they gonna be taken away???

Same thing happened to me last month. I lost £280 (inc. shipping) on a MIB G1 Roadbuster I sold to a guy in China. Luckily I insured for £100 so at least I should get some of it back.

And I'm afraid there is NOTHING you can do. I even had my proof of shipping documents which I photographed and uploaded them to the dispute case and Paypal totally fucking ignored them! The buyer just opened the case after 3 weeks and then sat back and watched the money come straight back to him. So now he's got my Roadbuster and and money. :banghead:

The buyer is in total control and can do whatever they want and get away with it because Paypal will ALWASY take their side in any dispute, no matter how much evidence you have to back you up.

In the future I will always ship everything by a trackable method and never ever throw any paperwork away.

Clutching at straws perhaps, but i'd assume Paypal have a record of his address being changed. Could that be pointed to as evidence of impropriety?

And at the risk of asking something you may have considered...is there any way of retrieving the delivery confirmation?

I'm assuming there's no record of it in Paypal, but if you did the paperwork at the post office, is there any chance they have a hard copy they could provide you with?

I plan on going in tomorrow to the post office to see if they can pull up transaction by my credit card....
Funny too....I got about 4 or 5 phoney emails asking for my paypal address, they'd deposit 100 more than I was asking to end the auction...I guessed they were gonna send me a fake page to get my password, but now, I'm guessing they woulda only sent me the money only to retrieve it later....and with paypals help. They gotta know this stuffs going on....

Just throwing this out there.... does your computer save that type of info? If so, check the USPS website and see what happens?

Otherwise..... not much you can do.

I've said this before but it's becoming more increasingly evident.
It used to be a buyer beware world. Now it's a seller beware. :(

Pretty much, now whenever I sell anything, I transfer everything to my excel spreadsheet. In that file, I have sale date, carrier, tracking #, where (ebay, tfw, etc), and what the item is with ebay # if necessary.

A buyer already burned me once, it will NEVER happen again:2c: .

Good idea, we should all learn to do the same thing.
I need to start a spread sheet for cataloguing my collection as well.

As a seller, you gotta protect yourself because everyone pretty much knows ebay only takes care of one group, the buyers....

I keep all paperwork, stapled by transaction in folders just in case. Hell, I keep printouts of emails. I also load tracking info into paypal the moment I ship it so the seller can observe shipment and tracking as well. I also seldom if ever ship without tracking, and require buyer paid insurance on anything over $60.

I also use my own postal scale to weigh everything and calculate shipping, and in the event I overestimate the cost of shipping I refund the difference to the buyer. The includes shipping multiple items based on total weight. Sometimes I undercharge on shipping, but I live with it.

Buyers who do not like my policies are welcome not to bid.

I always pay for postage within Paypal so the tracking info is auto added to the transaction.

If you still have the original white receipt from the PO, the conformation number is on printed on there. Not the small green confirmation number paper.

One thing that doesnt make any sense, how would the package be in Malaysia if you paid for postage for within the USA. I received first class letters back cause I was off by 1 and 5 cents for stamps, thats right, even if your off by 1cent, you'll get your letter or package back.
With out the right amount of postage for the package, the package would not reach its distanation.
    Sounds like a scam

Another thing for anybody selling on ebay or on the net, never throw away any receipt/paper work from the post office/ups/fedex or any mailing service you will be using. You'll never know when you need to show buyers proof you mailed the package.

I have receipts that are ten years old. Have a box full of them, its my insurance towards buyers when ever I have to show them proof I mailed their package and just in-case I have to file a missing package claim with the PO.

Also get a cheap food scale, cheap at walmart. I have a small food scale, not electronic. And pay the postage through Ebay (You can pay using funds from your Paypal account).
The tracking number with information when the package has been mailed, will show up on their and your "My Ebay". Ebay will also send the buyer a email, that their package has been processed for mailing. And if you use Priority Mail, conformation number is free and you will get small discount too. So its cheaper paying shipping through Ebay or online.

I just wish the Post Office's website itself took Paypal, so If I was to ever sell anything outside of Ebay, like here, I can save buyers shipping and give them free conformation number.

I've got burned so many times in the past year on eBay. I also got burned years ago when policies favored the sellers; of course I was buying so it never seems to be in my favor.

Always make sure it's trackable if going overseas.

PS- Keep your paperwork up through the deadline (3, 6 months? can't remember) because I've gotten emails from Paypal on the last day of scammers trying to get their money back saying they had their card stolen.

That sucks, but on eBay(for future reference) you can add the tracking number to their website & it'll be present on yours & the buyer's "My eBay". Also was the address a regular residential address or was it a cargo business? I had a person from another country that had me ship to a cargo company so he could save on all purchases.

damn man, that sucks... this has me worried a bit because I have something that i have to mail to someone in the UK, but also had a malaysia address... he wanted to cheapest shipping, but i'm tempted to just spend the extra few bucks myself to ship it faster and have tracking on it... its over $300 bucks of toys, so i'd hate to be screwed... but other times i've sold to people in Malaysia and had no issue... hate how eBay and Paypal work now, always siding with the buyers...

If that was me I'd be pulling all of my $$ out of Paypal and block the account with my bank assuming you can still pull it out with a case open. No way would I let someone get away with that.

I'm sure USPS can track it down somehow and give you the # so you can look it up online.

but if you do that, that means they will view you as admitting that you are guilty, since you ran for it.

    Ebay:
I'm not pulling it out. I just contacted paypal and ebay. I submitted a claim and contacted the buyer. Jesus this sucks...the paypal guy said any money put into my account will be pulled...they don't even ask, they just take...I've been on ebay for 10 plus years with a 631 feedback. I'm certainly not going to lose that over a 100 dollar transaction...
