Damn, that's crazy. No explanation!?! There has to be some reason and it shouldn't be the "gift" thing! If they are going to handle folks circumventing fees in that manner, that's just ludicrous. Shizz, now you got me shook about my own account.

i would definitely watch out now..they said the fraud department monitors transactions out of ebay and they wont tell me directly but they said transactions linked to e-mail and ebay accounts...that has to be the reason never had an issue ever!!!

are they tied to your credit card or bank account? Call them and report that your account was locked by paypal without reason or notification, and you see it as essentially theft. See if they can help you.

So that's how they're handling the "gift" option, overuse it and they dump you, nice.

Anyway sorry you're having such an issue with them, hopefully you can get it resolved soon. This also proves that there needs to be another option other than Paypal, they've gotten way too big for their britches.

So were you making your auction winners pay via the gift option?

They said they were going to start doing this to those that use "gift" option to get around fee's....this and requiring the buyer to "cover paypal fee's" by adding a lil extra to the final price....of course the later, would actually require someone reporting you for doing such a thing....

Both are against the rules with Paypal, and being found in violation of either one can lead to a perma ban.

I guess it's all in the price of doing business....sorry.

I would hope that one report wouldn't lead to a permaban. But with paypal you never know.

I do not think it is just for using the Gift Option. I know someone who was helping us Disney Pin Collectors out by picking up a line of pins released once a month, at no additional cost to her. We were sending funds via PayPal as a gift every month as she was charging COST, no mark up, and just shipping cost from her to the buyer, and PayPal contacted her and told her she was no longer able to receive funds via Gift, so from now, we have to send it with the fees included (no biggie), but still a PITA

    Ebay:
So could Ebay. But until more than a few people start using an alternative things won't get better.

So what was the reason for closing the account in the first place? ******ation?

I had a buyer who's funds were frozen for 2 weeks with no explanation. They just suspected fraud. Even though both me and him told them it was a normal transaction. How the f do you contact the customer, they tell you it was them and you still freeze their money?

Was this during an ebay transaction? I have sold a few things in the last few months on ebay and each time they hold the funds for at least 21 days because I don't have a record of selling alot of items, I don't have any strikes against my account and have not had a claims filed against me. Even afte I provided the tracking information to payla they still held the funds.
