If they do start charging then I better not hear people using free PSN as a reason why the PS3 is better the the 360 ever again.

This post makes no sense. If they start charging, how then could anyone claim that PSN was free? However, if they allow online play as a part of the free membership, then you'll have to wear goggles to block out the statements you don't like.

What are the differences between silver and gold XBL? I assume some demos or 'free' add-ons aren't available on the free silver offering?

I assume Sony will more or less copy Microsoft's model if they do decide to go ahead.

For now, let us laugh at the possibility of a pay-for PS Home. Yeah, that'll be a barren wasteland :lol

If it stops people from saying PS3 is better because no online fee and is thus better than 360... I say go for it!!

Well hopefully they make the overall online gaming experience better if they start charging. Good for them.

If they do, then it'll be like a thousand Sony Fanboys cry out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Well, I actually read through the presentation materials linked at that site and there's no statement saying that PSN will be a subscription service (unless I missed it and I don't think I did).

There's a passing reference to increasing revenue from the service, but they're talking about the media/books/comics aspect.

    I think this is a non-start.

From what my nephew says all gold does is let you play online with friends, and have party chat. That's it. I personally think it's a load of BS about this pay for PSN. Same story was circulating on PS3, so I'm inclined not to believe this. Also everyone was sending, and resending it so much I threatened everyone that was on my list that if they sent a another chain-letter about it I was deleting, blocking, and then reporting them to Sony.

No. You get that along with early or exclusive access to demos, videos, arcade games and content.

Slide 39 says PlayStation Network: new revenue stream from subscription.

That does not definitely mean it is going to be a pay service, but it's not a long stretch to launch speculation from that.
What else would the subscription be?

I foresee future posts by people who previously said that $50 a year for XBL was crazy expensive now stating that $4.17 a month for PSN is "not too bad". :lolol

    Best Post ever!

True to my previous notion on Live, if Sony starts charging for PSN, then I will also play online a little less there too.

Eh, I don't play online that much anyway. Nor do I have a PS3 comes to that.

The comics, netflicks, or digital reader subscriptions that will be necessary for the upcominc services PSN will be providing for those properties.
