What do you mean "mushy art"?

...you might not be able to convince him via Pat Lee's art, but just point him the wiki page describing what Pat Lee did to his talent during the dreamwave days and that should open his eyes.

Who me? I know what Pat Lee did. He shouldn't be allowed to work on the Transformers again.

I just wanted to know what his definition of "mushy art" is.

I'm trying to find the few issues of Dreamwave's DMC book that actually made it to shelves, too. There is nothing like seeing Dante Sparda taking on demons and snapping wisecracks with "dull surprise" pasted on his face.

Without the super talented colorists finishing his work, there is nothing about Pat Lee's art that stands out -that stands out in a good way, that is.

The concept was that you take a character and over inflate it a little. The same style was used in the Lilo and Stitch movie, everything is a little rounder, plumper, and droopier that it should be. I think the term marshmallow applied and that's where you're getting mushy from.

That page is awesome, I always wondered what would happen if Optimus Prime's arse caught fire during a fight with Devastator.

    It appears to be painful.
The cab windows of the truck make it look like he is crying.

Nevermore has a few examples saved for just such a topic; he gave me a good thrashing sometime last year when I said I liked DW better than IDW. :lol

    (Still do, though.) :p

Yeah I thought the same thing when IDW was just about to release the first issues of Transformers with Infiltration. I was like "Meh It's not DW" but this was before I really dabbled into what Pat did. And now I am IDW all the way. It's the same writer and artists and a few new ones!!!!

Let's see. Pat Lee. Where shall I start?

How about Optimus Prime with blow-up tits, Bumblebee with GIANT boots that are somehow supposed to turn into the front end of a Volkswagen beetle, and everyone generally just floating above a backdrop drawn by someone else?

How about Megatron's mighty gun of doom?

How about Optimus Prime's giraffe neck just for the sake of placing the head above the hand?

How about Pat Lee's idea of what a Freightliner Cabover is supposed to look like? (Note the extra wheel on one side of the truck cab!)

How about Soundwave with a thigh that doesn't look like it's connected to the torso, a GIANT-ASS LEG that makes Titanium Soundwave look well-proportioned, and a hand that's somehow supposed to be behind Jazz's head even though the wrist appears to be touching the head, making for some sort of MC Escher-esque perspective?

    How about...

I used to love how back when this stuff was being published and people would criticize his artwork there was this group of posters that were like "SNARK - I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU DO BETTER".

His art is better than the Transformers Marvel days. It all looked rushed.

I'd like to see his critics do better.
