    Uhhhh.

Isn't rounding up the typical process with these things?

They didn't make $100m, they made almost $98m?

LIES! DECIEPT! We must over-react in the most extreme way we possibly can!

    Because of a 3% discrepancy?

    For real?

Like I said, grasping at straws. At this point is more desperation than anything.

This thread, I want to preserve it.

So basically, everyone who's not a super Bay-hater has read the info and been like "oh so the $100m was just an estimation which is reasonably accurate counsidering the $97m only accounts for 97% of recorded revenue so while it's not 100% certain it's reasonable enough guess."

But "bayhaters" read the thread title, and right away post with "guess it's not as successful as they thought hoho Bay's in trouble now."

    . _ .

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty accurate summation.

Of course, replace Transformers with Twilight, Avatar, or whatever film fanboys like to currently hate on, and you all would be screaming bloody murder for the lies and deception; shrugs.

    Eh, not me.

This is so insignificant, I don't even know why I keep reading it.

No, because I'm not an idiot. (or I try really hard not to be)

But somebody would. Because there's plenty of people that believe that if you do not offer up 100% credidibility and straight, provable facts in every single detail in any given situation, you are a compulsive liar who deserves to be publicly shamed.

Because "guessing" is the single greatest crime anyone could ever commit.

It's relatively insignificant. The average person would call three million bobos pretty damn significant if just handed it one day.

But when your dealing with numbers this high, you have to start rounding and trusting in common sense. $97 million being 97% is reasonable enough to assume that 100% is $100 million.

And when the total worldwide revenue after a measly four days (also considering that "worldwide' doesn't actually mean the entire world, and big areas like the UK, Japan and I think even India still haven't got the movie yet) is $301.3 million, that .3 seems somewhat unimportant.

These haters lol. It amuses me. Either way this goes, it'll still be the highest grossing film on its first weekend in 2014.

Meh. I don't really care that they rounded up, but they should've been transparent about it.

The more interesting part of this thread is the double-standard being demonstrated in terms of calling people out on their bullshit. Some of the same people who dumped on me last week for making snarky comments towards a group of butthurt fanboys, are making snarky comments towards another group of butthurt fanboys.

    :/

Be honest: It's the Diesel avatar, isn't it?

If the studio lied, well it's no big deal to me, box office numbers though interesting, have zero impact on my life. The fact remains if the budget is $210 million and the movie made $300 million in the first weekend, then the film is a success, end of story. That 3 million isn't going to be the difference to the film being successful or unsuccessful.

However since Paramount is a publicly traded company, it would seem that they would have to be accurate with their numbers otherwise it could be considered fraud, but my guess we will never see any charges brought against anyone in this issue because it's rumor and speculation.

    pardon my crassness

Hating on something requires giving fucks, of which we all have a limited amount. I'm not convinced many people on this forum would spend their fucks on Twilight.

Edit: That being said- I wouldn't be surprised if they lied. If they did, more curious as to why.

Well dang. I guess this is ultimate, uncontestable, nail-in-the-coffin PROOF that Bay's Transformers movies are cinematic abominations that absolutely nobody in the general movie-going public actually enjoys watching. Clearly, the fact that such an egregious falsification has occurred proves, once and for all, that Age of Extinction is a flat-out failure, will completely bomb, and that everyone who claims audiences "enjoyed" the movie probably meant they alone enjoyed the movie in theaters filled only with empty seats.

    No it couldn't.

They didn't lie, they estimated. Lying would be knowing the exact ammount earned at that time and deliberately choosing to make a false statement, rather than merely judging by how much they knew they had made, how much was left uncalculated.

I'm not a fraud for estimating it's 3:00 at 2:55 when I don't have a clock. Corperations have legal teams that oversee every move to ensure they're not liable for anything they do.

Do you consider a police officer to have double standards for shooting someone who has a gun? Do you think that responding to comments is in itself somehow hypocritical as if the responses are about the mere idea of commenting itself and has nothing to do with the context or what's actually being said?

Or are you just deliberately now trying to start fights? Because even if what you're saying is true, you must be intelligent enough to realise absolutely zero good could come of it. I'm legitimately curious as to what you believed would be accomplished by what you just said.

So what? 3 million is a lot but that's still barely an issue when you've made 97 million already. So what if they rounded it up to 100?
