I'll see if I can scare up some better ones when the sun comes up. The changes are a little too subtle, but they look great in real life.

This is my most wanted movie figure, wish they'd release him over here already. Great touch ups, though :D

I like it, but I think he could use some weathering on the tires. Maybe a tannish wash?

Hmmmm... As seen in these pics they are painted a flat dark gray. I bet dry-brushing various light tans over the treads would look good. I'll give that a shot.

Oh ya even with those pic's you can notice the differences. This is why I want so bad for Tomy/Takara to do there own movie toys as Hasbro always seem to skimp out on the paint, and it's always those small differences that can make such a dramatic impact on a toy.

    Awesome work :)

Like I said, a lot of it is subtle...

The main thing I did was grab a bottle of paint from the hobby store and cover the entire thing in official US desert cammo armor color. Hasbro's own tan plastic and paint matches the official color pretty much perfectly. For example, all of the hubcaps are the original hasbro color and they exactly match the color I painted the truck body.

So, that whole thing isn't an obvious change. What it did was alter the way light reacts to the toy. Edges and thin lines in plastic look a bit soft and translucent giving away their plastic nature. The paint is more solid and gives harder shadows to any small lines. It just makes it look more "real".

Then I painted all of the rubber flat dark gray. This included the tires, coverings above the tires, and cords on the claw arm. Hasbro left the rubber over top of the tires and the cords on the arm un-painted tan. That's probably the most obvious change.

I painted the taillights red, the headlights and roof lights silver, and the side front lights yellow. They were all un-painted tan on the original.

I painted the back door window blue.

I painted the claw teeth tan and put a black/brown wash in-between the teeth.

I painted much of the green on the claw arm to match the tan armor.

Finally, on both the 'bot and truck I did a whole bunch of black and brown washes in the small nooks n' crannies to simulate dirt/wear.

Yeah same here! I really don't like the designs but seeing the cool little mods here and there and some nice photos...they're really getting under my skin here. It's tough seeing this shit in stores and just ignoring it. Aghh

Pictures aren't bad by the way. The first shot makes me want to buy the damn thing

Great work! This figure is crying out for painted detail. Looking good. But that real pic just shows how this guy REALLY needed to be At least Voyager if not Leader size.
