how do you do it without getting paint on the helmet too.
you buy the henkei version
Small brush and a steady hand (that's my guess anyways). I've seen people paint smaller details than his face with extreme accuracy. Personally, the smallest detail I've ever painted on a TF, so far, has been a bot's eyes. Not an easy thing to do, for me at least.
because I never get to:
that being said, skills. That's all you need.
Paint Brush or a Fine Point paint pen(That what I use) and a Steady Hand.
A little masking tape around the edges to keep paint where you don't want it to go can help too.
Good idea! Really if I could fix this I wouldn't have to get the Henkei version......Hmmmmm. Never done a mod of any sort before but perhaps it is worth a try.
Does this work well? If it does I think I am going to try it tomorrow
my only problem with the figure is not his face, but the fact that his red plastic, looks unpainted lol. compared to the rest of them, but i suppose it is alright. but quite frankly, i so far, LIKE smurf faced ironhide
lol thats wat i'd probably do coz i suck at painting
I used a Sharpie to do my Classics Starscream's face. Worked beautifully.
rapid_fire's right. Why didn't you wait for the Henkei version, Hikaru?
I used a gundam marker and tried to be careful...
Everyone is all about the Henkei!! I can't justify a 30+ mark up for a yellow stripe, silver face and horribly misplaced chrome. Your paying gobs more for about 2 dollars worth of paint apps.
finally someone says it thats been on my mind alot lately
and I plan on just using a sharpie ive done it on figures before and it doesnt look too bad
Exactly. I can see why some are willing to buy Henkei for a more accurate version but still that is too rich for my blood.
I would only buy Henkei if I missed out on a first wave classics figure and it would be cheaper to buy the Henkei rather than pay out the bum for the American version of the said classics figure. grumble grumble Skyfire grumble.
Those that have the luxury of paying the same prices for either Hasbro or Takara's would probably lean more towards the latter. I know i am.
"Horribly misplaced chrome"? Ironhide features one of the most pleasing uses of chrome by blinging up his weapon without ruining the aesthetic design of the toy. Along with Optimus Prime and Rodimus, this is a rare example of how chrome can enhance the figure. How does that qualify as "horrribly misplaced"?
If not able to be seen in both mode I personally deem it "Horribly Misplaced". Where is it on Ironhide when in Alt mode? Under him hidden from plain sight. A better place "IMO" would have been the bumper and the part that flips up into the chest. My reasoning for the bumper is because a lot of older trucks, picks up, and some vans had the chrome mirror finished bumpers. Not sure if its still the same haven't really paid much attention the that little detail while driving.
And as for him having a tricked out bling gun it makes me think that is all it is Bling!! Or Army of Two and I didn't like it then and I don't now. That ruined the aesthetics of the figure for me.
