Does anyone know if Marvel did a trade paperback for their movie adaptation miniseries? I know they collected Universe and the GI Joe crossover, and Titan collected Headmasters with the regular Marvel run, but I've never seen a trade for the movie issues. Just curious...I know it sucks, and I already own the issues, but I just picked up the GI Joe crossover after looking for it for years, and it peaked my interest in whether a movie trade was ever released.
I'm afraid I have to agree, but maybe they will with all the hype surrounding both movies at the moment.
doesnt seem likely but i do have the scans of the issues here's just some cover shots - Issue #1: Issue #2: Issue #3:
I bought all three of those in real good condition for $5 earlier this year. They were awful, but still well worth having.
No, Marvel never did release them. I'm certain because the Marvel series was a personal fave of mine. Of course, there were certain storylines that were lame but...anyway, if they had released it, i would definately have gotten it. Interesting point to note was the Marvel series had extra scenes. Whether this was intentional or not, I don't know. Example, as Optimus was beating up megatron, he was saying things like, "This is for Ironhide etc etc".
The answer to your question is "no... and yes"; we did get a "collected comics" of the movie in the UK, rather than getting the individual US issues.
Thanks everybody! I'm not particularly put out that they didn't release one, and I can always go look at my individual issues to remind myself how bad it was, but it's good to know there's not a trade of it out there somewhere boring a hole in my Transformers library shelf. Also, how hard are the UK annuals and to track down these days? My local comic shop has a copy of one of the annuals, but I'm not sure I want to start collecting them if it's going to take me years to track them all down. I assume owing to them being annuals there'd be..what...6 or 7 of them?
Not hard at all, ebay.co.uk will do you wonders. Annnnd... should take you 3-6 months to grab them all, I reckon.
More like sales were good and Marvel US wern't producing enougth material to fill a typical UK weekly and its annual. I say typical as in typical back then, the only weekly titles I still see on the racks thesedays are 2000AD and the DC Thomson titles. I woulden't be surprised if they somehow outlast the human race itself.
I know what you mean...as I was buying both comics (US and UK) at the same time. Being fairly young at that time, I was wondering how come some of the US storylines in the UK comics would get "extended" (er, can't remember the storylines) and had "additinal" characters (Death's Head etc). I prefered reading the UK ones not because I found the tone of the stories more serious. Of course not all of the UK stories were good and had its share of duds but it had some very good ones too such as Space Pirates and Timewars (just to name a few). Amazingly (if I remembered correctly) the TFs were the No.1 comic in the UK during their time, allowing the UK side to promote characters like the "original" Death's Head and the team - Dragon Claws.
