This is my first BOTCON and I'm in the process of thinking about packing.

My main concern is the BOTCON exclusive set. I plan on bringing just a roll on and a backpack.

But if the BOTCON exclusive set box is too big, I'm thinking about bringing another bag that I can throw my clothes in and check that in and put the BOTCON box in the roll on and bring that aboard with me.

I'm curious as to any other ideas out there that veteran BOTCON attendees have used in the past.

I usually take two rolling suitcases (one with some clothes and one completely empty) and a backpack. I usually use the clothes as packing material for finds and ship some stuff home. As for the boxed set I take it on the plane with me as a carry-on. Even with two backpacks with me on the flight, no one stopped me or had an issue with my lugging the boxed set with me.

    Hope that helps a little.

I'm definitely planning on taking a backpack and two rolling suitcases as well, wondered about that myself, do we have any idea how big these are going to be, same size as last years you think?

I have three rolling suitcases, each a little smaller. If I was planning on mega-hauls to bring home, I'd pack the smallest one with clothes and put it inside the medium one, and then inside the large one if necessary.

But I'm driving, so I'll just fill the trunk with toys. :D

I'm allowed two bags on my flight, so I'm taking one slightly smaller one and another decent sized one. Maximum size to fit the maximum amount of stuff.

I think the bag I'll be taking has a capacity of over 100 litres, and is in fact called 'The Kitchen Sink'

Yeah, don't think I'll be running out of room.

I’m also bringing a roll on and a back pack. Anything that does not fit I’ll likely ship home.

bring bubble wrap if you are checking OR carrying on. Really.

I wrapped my stuff up in clothes in '04 and carried it on, and still damge occured. I got stuck with a C5 box that was mint before I packed it :(

This show I'm driving to, but if I was flying, I would most certainly ship it home to myself.

I'm thinking about buying a new suitcase, larger than my carry-on bag, and packing one inside of the other. Checking that, and carrying my backpack on.

That or just having everything shipped home that I can't carry on.

I'm driving to the show, but I *am* bringing an extra suitcase to put my purchases in.

If you can bring something you can pack inside one of your other bags, it might help. Or, plan to ship stuff home ... but, I imagine it would be difficult to find a shipping service on a Sunday.

I've got one big expanding suitcase that has a divider on one half, it managed me for 2 weeks in canada full so i imagine I can manage with a backpack for hand luggage and then half my suitcase full of clothes and then the other half for toys etc. :)

They did and I took advantage of it! I shipped home my set, the Megatron and Waspinator set, Laser Convoy and Laser Magnus. It was 40 dollars total but in the end I feel it was well worth it to come home to everything perfectly perfect ... and they poured in LOADS of foam peanuts which was fun for about 5 minutes.

This is the first year I've flown to Botcon in quite some time, but I think I'm prepared. I've got an extra bag full of bubble wrap to put my purchases in. Depending on how much I buy depends on how I'll get my stuff home. I might wrap the box set in one layer of bubble wrap and just carry it on the plane w/ me. Or if I don't end up buying a lot then I'll just wrap everything w/ the bubble wrap and surround them all w/ clothes.
