Everything that I love is in this. Del toro movie, Godzilla Toho nods, giant robots, and portal lol. Going to see this right away.
The way the trailer was constructed, from the repeating robot-noise to just the choice of angles and slow shots verses fast action was very Transformers-y. Which isn't a bad thing, the TF trailers are awesome, I just hope people recognize this as a different kind of robot movie and not an attempt to ape Transformers. (which it of course is not, but you know people)
Fucking awesome. The Jaegers look so bad ass and HOLY SHIT the Russian one has a submarine-lookin' tower thingy for a head. And I love seeing multiple (And different) Jaegers in that one shot. Wish we got more clearer shots of the Kaiju though I hope that in the coming months they release profiles of the different Kaiju that are in the movie like what they did with the Jaeger blueprints. Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember Del'Toro mentioning they selected 10 or 12 of 40+ monsters they designed to star in the film. And there's also going to be a prequel comic series too and other merchandise. Fingers crossed for a good toyline. I'd gladly clear off one of my Transformers shelves to display them all.
Holy crap that trailer was freaking amazing! I was anticipating this movie before, but not I think it's in my top three most anticipated movies of 2013.
I watched it again. What was the cameo? I must've missed it. Oh, I don't think we have to worry about people worrying that it's "stealing" from Bayformers. Just wait for it. The "finally a REAL Transformers movie", "better than that Bay crap", "this is what Bayformers SHOULD'VE been!", "del Toro does exploding bridges better than Bay"-comments are coming.
Dude how can they mistake this for a Transformers film when it has freaken KAIJU destroying cities all over the world and having man made machines? Anyway this is awesome! So far this has the poteintal to give us a film that every Kaiju and non Kaiju fan alike can enjoy! I can't wait to see it's toyline because I want to have figures of the robots and Kaiju.
I'm calling it now, if this movie does well, we will see a Power Rangers movie greenlit. Whether or not it makes it into production is another story, but we will probably see it announced to capitalize on the success of Pacific Rim.
I've been watching Godzilla and Gundam for the past three weeks. It's like they made a baby or something... and it's beautiful!
I never would have imagined that we would jumping into Neon Genesis Evangelion Territory again after The Matrix Films.
Not just Portal. The part of the premise being alien creatures sent through a dimensional rift by some mysterious force just screams Half-Life to me.
