Owners of both G Giant and Hercules? Which do you prefer?

At one point, i could've sworn the poll leaned heavily towards Giant, right now it's 50/43 towards Giant.

I've got, and appreciate, both at this point...but Hercules feels a bit more toylike.

I believe if you don't have something positive to say, don't do it in front of people who love the toy. As this is a which do you prefer thread, I think my opinions will be received more openly. This will probably be old news for several of you, so tl/dr: I prefer Herc.

I went for Hercules first, and I bought Yellow Giant for my G2 redux shelf. These are my opinions on the robot modes, I won't combine Giant for a few weeks to get a feel of the individual robots.

Is there a way to compress Mixmasters mid-section? There seems to be a 3-4 mil gap between the hip and the ab area that I can't eliminate. Decent figure, I just prefer Madblender.

Scrapper seems to have zero shoulder articulation because the shovel gets in the way. Am I doing something wrong? Head feels slightly hidden compared to the Herc equivalent, and thanks to the much better legs it has much better balance.

Hook seems like a joke. The cab section underneath the arm seems static as much as it annoys me, can I at least remove the crane from his other arm? Not really feeling the head for a foot, but what can ya do? I much prefer Dr Crank. Having watched the Kuma style review, I will unscrew the crane arm, but I really feel I shouldn't have to.

Why are Longhauls hands the same size as Devastators? He desperately needs heels. It's a huge toy and my favourite from the Giant series in robot mode, but the balance sucks which is odd considering how good the feet are on the Giant versions, but again I prefer the Herc version.

I left Set A till last, because they were the set that initially put me off buying Giant, but I eventually succumbed as I am a big toy whore. I feel these are the weakest figures out of the set, and think it's a shame they released these two together, a bit more diversity in the first set might have encouraged me to pull the trigger earlier.

Compared to Structor, who was my first Herc bot, Excavator is a disappointment. While I think his and Bulldozers treads are better proportioned than there counterparts, and once again I love the feet on the Giant versions, they are just so small. So, so small. I am also disappointed with the lack of options with Excavators shovel arm, his floaty gappy head, and the sheer amount of kibble on his back.

Bulldozer is another disappointment for me. The back kibble almost compacts through his torso hole, but not quite. Just a little tooling an it would have fitted fine, and reduced the kibble. I also feel the shovel movement is severely restricted, and it just disappears around the back, whereas on (I want to say Neckbreaker?!?) it moves in vehicle mode, and transforms cleverly into a nice chest panel and really nice feet. Bulldozers chest panel / cab doesn't seem to click into place either. Harumph!

So, where do I put the left over bits in robot mode? I have the chest shield that appears not to go anywhere. As well as the forearms. I know they can plug into the back of some of the guys, but it throws the aesthetic a lot.

Overall: I prefer the size and the aesthetic of the Hercules team, although for the most part the legs on the Giant toys are much better, as are the details in the paint jobs, I also think the power generators containing the forearms and fists for Giant is a lovely touch and looks great in vehicle mode, I just prefer the idea of using the pieces of the robots to form the forearms on Herc. I like chunky toys, and Herc fits the bill as well as being amazingly fun to transform. In the months I've had them I have transformed them several times, and I enjoy the robot and vehicle modes as equally as the combined form. Giant will have to be pretty special when I combine him to take the edge. Neither are perfect, but both are huge achievements for both companies.
In closing however, I can't help but feel that - regardless of my opinion on preferred form - it is incredibly cool that we have two awesome fully combinable Devastator figures to chose from. It is truly a great time for the fandom.

Argh. I already had Hercules and bought Green Giant after seeing so many awesome pictures. I finally played around with them over the Thanksgiving break and after giving it another week... I pretty much agree with everything Sidbeckett wrote. I really wanted to love Giant but the fiddlyness just throws me off.

Thanks man. I thought long and hard, but finally decided to just get Yellow Giant. I know Herc is a great figure, but I chose Giant for a variety of reasons (price not being one of them since they basically cost the same here in Hong Kong), and these are reasons prior to actually having Giant in hand.

1) I prefer Giant's look over Herc
2) I prefer Giant's alt and robot modes over Herc (in general, from reviews and pics)
3) I prefer Giant's size over Herc. I want my Devy to scale with Fansproject combiners
4) I was turned off by the possible QC issues of Herc (meaning I don't want to have to deal with these)
5) The yellow option was available (one I went with, eventually)

Herc seems to be an awesome figure, and I'm certain that a lot of you guys are happy with him. But I voted with my wallet, and I voted for Giant.

To be fair, having Giant displayed combined has really made me appreciate him more, but I doubt I will ever transform him again.
Giant is a great statue, Hercules is a real fun toy.

I'm currently 2/6th of the way to completing Hercules. Hopefully that'll change come 2013. After that, I'll most likely buy Giant. From what I've seen of them all, I have to say that I think they're both very good. I do think none of them pull off perfect robots, although the Giant guys probably have more decent bots than the Hercules team. That said, I still like the look of both.

I do want to get a yellow Giant (just because then it'll be a different colour, and it also makes it easier to justify chucking down that large chunk of money), but the extra features that green Giant has is making me lean towards buying that version instead (which, honestly, kind of sucks, because I'd love to have a G1 and a G2 Devastator on my shelf that are both quite different. I guess I could get an actual G2 Devastator to go with my G1 one, but that's besides the point).

Points 1 to 4 are the same reasons I went with Giant over Herc and the lower price made it an easy choice. TFC Constructicons never got me excited while MT's version had me from 1st look.

Much like FP Colossus, I doubt I'll ever sell Green Giant unless I literally needed the money to buy food...
