What I’m interpreting (may be utterly wrong) is that they’ve ditched the protective coat of varnish commonly applied over regular paint and are now instead using a glossy, oil based paint; probably in order to minimise the thickness of the paint apps. Perhaps the heavy coats of paint and vanish were causing tabbing issues? I haven’t really been paying attention to this thread but I know that’s an issue with LT-02.
I wonder if this kind of paint will be more, less or equally at risk of flaking and scuffing?

Has there been a problem with flaking and scuffing this figure? I haven’t transformed mine. He’s just too purdy.

    Black one looks nice!

I have the red version and it's great on its own. Apologies for not knowing the difference, but the wj commander 01 vs the MPM04, I know they are different figs but are they supposed to be the same iteration of movie prime?

I just meant in general in comparison to the regular method of paint coated in varnish. Nothing specific to this figure.
The varnish coat is there as a protective layer and now they seem to have just combined it with the paint so let’s see how that turns out.

I was going to wait it out for the weijiang, but this thing is just too beautiful.

The wait for this thing in the mail is killer too though, so I'm soaking up as many pictures and videos as possible.

I really wish the official and Weijang were using those shoulder designs... That would just throw them over the top for me.

It seems to me the blue on the left figure is more pearlescent, rainbowy, metalic, or "oily". They might be changing the plastic, the paint, or both.

This is a PSA to anyone disconnecting the torso for the first time, and also a plea for tips on doing so without breakage when I receive my replacement Ls03??? Lol I've never had anything this bad ever happen to any of my other Hot Toys or 3rd Party/Official masterpiece figures in my 12 years of collecting.

I now have an Optimus Prime that is in two pieces. Hopefully the replacement will get to me faster than the 30 days it took for me to receive this guy

After you unhook the ab cover piece, you slide the top half of the body forward slightly then lift up. You'll see to tongues on the waist and two channels in the upper half of the body. Ill try to grab a picture.

    Channel on upper half

    Tongue on lower half

Hope it helps, I almost ripped mine in half today (first transformation) as well.

Hopefully my seller will replace the whole figure, because I did rip mine in half, following horrible advice from Ben's video haha. He said the first time is tough and to give it a good pull haha. Well I did, and now I'm screwed.

He asked me which replacement part to send?? Haha I'm like uhhh buddy.. I'm not sure I know how to operate on this portion of the figure? All I see is pin joints? For this section and I'm not trying to knock pins this long haha. Do you guys see any place I can replace the trailor hitch spine from?

Unfortunately it's either a new figure or knocking pins. I don't really see any other option.

I've found that Ben has missed a few crucial steps in the transformation on a few figures. I no longer trust his tutorials. Emgo is my go-to.

Yeah I'm going to shoot for the full replacement, as I am not comfortable knocking pins.

Yeah usually I don't use transformation tutorials at all, or even instructions other than to check if I missed something, because it ruins the puzzel aspect for me. The one time I do for this specific area...it bites me in the ass haha.
