Does anyone experience paranoia when ordering figures from overseas online stores?

For some reason I'm afraid to order stuff from overseas. In fact, I've never done it.

But now I've come to a point where there are some figures from a toyline that wasn't released here in the States and pretty much the only way to have a shot at getting all of them would be to order from overseas.

I guess the high shipping costs are one factor for this phobia. It can get ridiculous if you're ordering a lot of stuff.

Also, I'm just afraid of the package being lost altogether or the seller screwing me over on eBay.

If an online store had the figures I wanted here for a high markup, I'd much prefer to spend the money and go that route for some reason. But I don't know what the logic is behind my actions in doing so. I'm just simply that scared to order from overseas.

Anyone else experience this? Is there nothing to be afraid of?

    Well said m8.
Sorry RW, but this is hilarious. How do you think non-US collectors cope? if we want that Target Exclusive, or that KB Exclusive, or even that mainline figure half the time, we don't have a choice but to get it from overseas. We take that risk all the while, mate.
Just order. If it's eBay & Paypal you use you can get your money back if things go pear shaped anyway.

Do the European fans get most of their stuff from the US? Or is it split between Asia and Europe?

Since TFs are not a big problem to find in the US, I've never had to look overseas for stuff. I've pretty much been in this protective bubble being in the States with access to everything.

But now that I'm interested in the Mugenbine line, I pretty much have to order a great deal of stuff from Asia. And for some reason it's just daunting for me. :(

Hasbro stuff from the U.S, Takomy from Asia.

It's not really any less secure ; So long as you pick a reliable seller there's not a lot to worry about, it just takes a bit longer to arrive and costs more to ship.

That's another thing that I would have to get used to. The shipping time. I've heard it takes like a month for something to be delivered when you order overseas. Is this the norm?

Yes, it is quite ironic. I dunno why but I've simply avoided it all this time and can no longer avoid it.

I would never buy anything too expensive from anyone on ebay. But I have bought some things say $50 usd shipped from sellers in Hong Kong, and if I didn't get I wouldn't kick myself too much for being outed $50 and I actually get things from overseas really quick.

The main question is, who are you gonna order from? HLJ? Amenbo?

    Ebay:
I've ordered a few things shipped fron Hong Kong from ebay, and haven't had much of a problem. Shipping is a little longer, it usually takes about 2 weeks or so, but it's not bad. I usually have to wait longer than that for things I order from Canada!

I think I would order from anyone who would have what I want in stock. Right now there's a seller on eBay who does. I may look into HLJ and Amenbo as well.

But wasn't there something like if you order from Japan you have to sign up for Rinkya or something?

If you use eBay Japan, yeah. They don't sell to overseas bidders.
As for where to get stuff from; aside from eBay I've heard very good things about Amenbo (ask Fort Max about them), Xyber Toys, and HLJ.

I have bought from overseas and domestic. The only stores I have ever had problems with were canadian or domestic. I was able to resolve the issues with the domestic.

So based on my own experince I am better off ordering from overseas or domestically, than Canada.

Awesome. I'll have to check out Xyber Toys.
Really. That actually makes me feel a lot better about ordering from overseas.

For EMS, From Japan to here is usually about the same as the U.S.
By SAL however i literally got a reissue Laser Rod Prime in 4 days flat.

From Hong Kong is usually about 10 - 12 days.

I've ordered from Japan a couple times. All of them were good transactions. It does cost more in shipping, but its worth it in the end.

Sometimes stuff can actually arrive quicker to me from the USA than from the East Coast of Australia. It's a bit crazy like that.
