So I just downloaded the Sonic Generations soundtrack, and was disappointed that it had two versions of Casino Nights and none of the tracks in the game's soundtest (like Kingdom Valley). This got me thinking that are overrated and underrated Sonic levels. What do you think?

Most overrated: Casino Nights. Sure, it was kinda cool in Sonic 2, but didn't Sonic Spinball flesh this out enough? There are Casino themed stages in a lot of the Sonic games since then (I can think of Adventure, Sonic 4, and Generations off the top of my head). Please let's be done with Casino Nights!

Most underrated: I'm gonna go with Hidden Palace Zone. Even though it didn't have a "proper" boss fight at the end, it was the height of storytelling in a Sonic game. Sonic confronts Knuckles, who realizes he was betrayed by Robotnik, Robotnik runs off with the Master Emerald, and the two decide to team up. The level had awesome music and great backgrounds.

Edit: I kind of see Lava Reef Act 2, Hidden Palace, and Sky Sanctuary as one continuous level of awesomeness.

Overrated: Ice Cap Zone. Ice Cap fron Sonic Adventure was MUCH better and more memorable.

Underrated: Seaside Hill, I'll be honest.

The original one in Heroes, or Generations? Or both generally? Interesting selection!

The one in Heroes. But the one in generations is a FANTASTIC level and recreation, and I love playing through it.

Sonic 2 predates Spinball by quite a bit.

Oh yeah, I mean the original concept in 2 was cool because it was new. Then the idea was fully fleshed out in '95 with Spinball. It should've been over, finished, with Spinball, whose mechanics to me seemed looser than Sonic 2 oddly.
