I just came up with this while commenting in another thread.

Maybe Arcee goes back in time in Out of the Past. When she comes back to the present, she brings Cliffjumper with her. I doubt it will happen and frankly I don't think I want it to happen. It's just a thought I had

That'd actually be really cool. The episode is called "Out Of The Past". But I doubt it. It's probably a flashback episode.

It very well could be entirely a flashback episode

Um... does the words "Time paradox" mean anything to anyone?

This, then his death in Darkness rising never happened, and he didnt come to earth prior to him being brought forward in time by Arcee.

wouldn't it be a paradox if CLIFF had somehow gone back in time to save himself? If this theory is true, (I'm not really a supporter of the time travel idea), Arcee going back in time and bringing cliff back to the present wouldn't cause a paradox. THe worst that could happen would be 'alternate timelines' but I'm sure the show isn't going to mention those if it happens.

If Arcee brings a past cliff back to a time after he already died, what's being contradicted?

It would be devastatingly sad if he spends some time with the autobots in the present, and then is forced to come back and die anyway to avoid creating any time paradoxes.

Paradoxes never occur in science fiction unless the paradox itself is a plot point.

What if they go back in time and prevent him from dying? A loophole at best.

    Or

They get Cliffjumper from the past, and put his current memories inside him.

Well the episode "Out of his head" involved Bumblebee being out of his head and into Megatron's.

"Out of the past" could involve some sort of groundbridge accident that brings Arcee back in time....

An interesting theory, but as the OP himself acknowledged, doubtful. It's unlikely the ground/space bridge could send someone back in time and all that.

And yeah, watch out for paradoxes when bringing people from past to present :p

Pretty much this. I'd imagine that the episode will consist of a lot of flashbacks, similar to Predatory.

Actually, that's a good idea and it might make a pretty good episode.

Simple way to avoid a paradox:

Go back to the moment right before Cliffjumper was captured in episode 1.

    Bring him to the future.

He'd still be missing for that whole time. Nothing changes. Arcee is still bent on revenge, etc.
I guess the only thing that would change is they'd have to presume Cliffjumper died instead of seeing his zombie corpse for themselves. Minor detail.

    But it could work!

interesting theory, but I doubt it would happen. I'd very much like cliff to stay dead, but I'm assuming the "out of the past" pertains to shockwave. arcee remembers him from the past and those memories were sparked when he is mentioned by optimus that has gone on a scouting mission.
